Electric vehicle subsidies under threat. MAGA

Yet another example of Trump's contempt for sound responsible governance and public policy.
if you can't make a profitable product w/o government intervention, not my fault. stop using my tax dollars to pay for it. when it can take root and grow and become a true benefit, then it will take off and be all that it will likely one day be.
Ya mean like nuke plants, massive hydro-electric dams, a national highway system?

Oh wait...you don't...
Those aren't products for the market, Idiot.
nope. i looked.

no nuclear plants, super highway systems or hydro-electric damns for sale online anywhere. not even amazon.

best i can do:
https://www.amazon.com/Century-Ulti...qid=1551964916&s=gateway&sr=8-1&tag=ff0d01-20
Know why?

Because they were built with FEDERAL money

I would rather see working Americans with long commutes to work get the maximum subsidy regardless of how they get there. That is a higher priority.

So you are a proponent of high speed rail. Great

he doesn't get it.

I am a proponent of “maximum subsidy to a working taxpayer with long commutes to his/her job. That could mean high speed rail, walking, or driving a gas guzzling truck.

Maybe you folks love dumping dollars into the gas tank of your gas guzzlers...I don't. Maybe you like breathing the crap that comes out of the tailpipe. I don't.

My son drives a Prius that is nearly 10 years old. Battery has never needed replacement. He pays almost nothing for gas. When the Prius came out is WAS nearly unaffordable. Now it costs less than a lot of gas guzzlers

I'm just having a hard time finding a problem here.
then go be happy with your solutions to your problems and leave everyone else the fuck alone. if you want a prius then buy it. i don't need to have to HELP you buy it, however.

So everybody pitches in and helps you buy a pickup... but you don't think you should do the same?

Because the big 3 have gotten what was the number? Ford and GM got something like 83 billion in subsidies the past 27 years from their pals in the government..

Doesn't look like hybrid/electric vehicles will ever get anything close to that one.

Ok, the big 3 have 100 billion of subsidies the last 27 years if you want to drive one of their ICE vehicles. Sounds good, that one has been covered. Now just make sure the rest get theirs too right?

Please read what I said. It’s simple.

Yes, you are saying that with all the subsidies for gas vehicles.. we really have a LOT of catching up to do for other forms. Got it.

why not? you're pretending it's for the same reasons we do or do not give subsidies. now i've only bought a new car a few times in my life but neither time did it say "government discount" because of it. you're also comparing a technology that in many ways is still proving itself and has a long way to go before it will be mainstream.

i do think it will get there. it will get help along the way; as did "the big 3". and as far as that goes, i was also against bailing out GM and if we're going to invest in the future, invest in tesla.

also - i'd not ask nor want everyone to help me buy something. this "gofundme" fad needs to end cause people are turning into cyber-beggars we ignore on the street.

"President Donald Trump has threatened to kill one of the signature efforts of the Obama administration, but today White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow confirmed it: Trump will end subsidies for electric cars.

The move, which Kudlow said would happen in 2020 or 2021, covers other items including renewable energy sources. He revealed he plans in response to a question about what the administration plans to do in response to General Motors’ recently revealed plant closings and employee layoffs."

Trump to End Electric Vehicle Subsidies by 2021 | TheDetroitBureau.com
pohahahahaa while other countries are going forward trump is dragging the US backwards.

Why can’t we go forward without subsidies for the rich that get the tax breaks as they are about the only ones that own one. I like my Volt but I never got a subsidy and I pay more to tag my vehicle.

Do we really need the subsidies when sales are going up?
The government should subsidizing farmers, amazon, big corporations first...dont you think ?

It might delay widespread use of electric cars for a little while, but Trump won't be president much longer, and we can return to sanity with the inauguration of our next president.

So, they won't be adopted unless the taxpayers subsidize them?

Gasoline powered cars wouldn't have been accepted without tax payers subsidizing the oil companies. There were no fueling stations and no infrastructure to keep them supplied, and very few suitable roads for cars. Without a concentrated effort by the government to support oil companies and car manufacturers with huge grants and tax incentives, we wouldn't have become the industrial giant we became in the early 20th century.
The size of government was miniscule in the early 20th century. Taxation was low and we were in the middle of industrializing. The work force compared to many decades later produced, built and created at a cheap price. What you typed is vague. Also W. Bush signed a Hydrogen fueled car initiative that was interesting, but when the Progressive Socialists took over after the 2008 election landslide they deep sixed it.

It was ditched in favor of electric cars because electric cars were already on the market and vastly closer to widespread viability.

Nope, they should not. They need to stand on their own or close. We need to cut spending and raise taxes until we get the government spending under control and start lowering the debt.

Hybrid cars are a type of electric car.

Gasoline cars have electrical components too ...

Have you ever seen an electric car in a poor person's house? If course not. Yet this is the car you want subsidized.

Why should the poor pay to make a bunch of fools feel good about themselves? They should not.

If you want to impress your man-bun wearing, gender fluid friends with an electric car, do it in your own dime.

Because you neglected reason and logic in favor of hatred and spite, you lash out with anger like a spoiled child.

True, but those electrical components only regulate the burning of fuel, where the actual power to move the vehicle comes from. The electricity across a spark plug gap is not what pushes the piston to make the wheels turn. The expanding gasses from the liquid ignited by that spark plug do. Diesels don't generally have spark plugs anyway. That fuel is generally ignited by compression.
