Emmett till accuser dies today

Segregation energized the Civil Rights Movement, hemmorhoid!!
There were multiple things that energized it, but often it can be a singular event that creates a tipping point. I have read it was the murder of Chaney, Goodman, and Schwerner, freedom riders registering peoe to vote, that finally pushed many whites into taking notice. Goodman and Schwerner were white, the murders were calculated and in Chaney's case he was brutally beaten as well as executed. This galvanized the nation.

Segregation was in effect for a hundred years. Few paid attention to it.

Emmitt Till drove home exactly how bad the Jim Crow South was to most Americans who had just accepted it as a Southern practice with no harm.

How could they allow two men to abduct, torture and kill a child without consequences

No...but she was obviously a democrat party member......punish their party, stop voting for them.

No trying to be rude, but how is that relevant? Do you think the DNC would have approved of her lying and getting a 14 year old boy tortured and murdered?

At the time....yes.....the democrats in that state were all in on racism and hate.....Lyndon Johnson opposed every single civil Rights act and the anti-lynching law when he was a Senator.........the party protected the kkk and the violence ...

There is absolutely no way the DNC would have supported this. Yeah, they were shit as far as racism is concerned. But not torturing and murdering because of a supposed whistle.

LBJ passed the most significant civil rights legislation in a hundred years

He could have easily blocked it

Have any of you ever saw the picture of Emmitt Till lying in his coffin? It is horrific. Only savage animals could've done that to a 14 year old child.
The 2 savages who lynched Emmitt, J.W. Milam and Roy Bryant, sold their story to Look magazine about a year after their trail. They described how they kidnapped, tortured and killed him. Their interview is in the January 1956 issue of Look magazine.
They were free to tell the story after they had been found not guilty by an all White jury. Of course, no White jury in 1950s Mississippi was going to find two White men guilty of killing a Black person.

What is all the phony outrage about?

In the 1950’s, a black kid makes lewd comments and grabs a white woman. People were outraged and rightfully so. The men went too far in what they did perhaps, but that is not the fault of the woman. All she did was report it. Was she supposed to stay silent? What happened to must believe all women? There is zero proof she lied about the incident. The men who were accused of killing Till were acquitted of the charges by a jury. Even the attempt to charge her later on never made it past a grand jury it was so absurd.

Till was just born in the wrong times. He could easily assault and rape white women in this day and age. He’d be praised for it.
So, are you saying it was OK for those 2 animals to kill him?

The torture murder of Till energized the Civil Rights Movement. That you disagree is immaterial.

The Civil Rights Movement was a nonviolent push against segregation. It lasted from 1954 until 1968 when the Civil Rights Act was signed.

There were a lot of triggers. Emmitt Till's death was certainly a big one. So were the Little Rock Nine, the Rosa Parks bus boycott, the Freedom Rides, and the Birmingham Church bombings. It was a time we stood up to the racists and hate-mongers. The beginning of the end for the kkk.

Awww..... the party of Tawana Brawley and child rapists got the memo....

"Hey loyal sheep! It's Pretend To Care About Black People Thursday! Pretend we didn't found the KKK and religiously vote against civil rights legislation. Pretend Josef Stolen has quit telling N jokes and didn't incarcerated N's by the thousands because.... well, his words, "they're predators".

"Remember, next week, is our Burn-A-Fucking-Ghetto-To-The-Ground spring festival. Put on your best panties, shove a dildo in your ass and grab the gasoline can from mom's basement! Let's have fun!"

That is what killed segregation and Jim Crow

They could have made it just look like an odd social construct where both sides left each other alone. Two worlds apart.

But when you could allow two men to abduct, torture and kill a child and just laugh at any concept of justice, it had to end

Back in the day? In that community?

The democrat party today sanctions the violence of blm and Antifa…..they burned, looted and killed in our major cities for a year while democrat party mayors told the police to do nothing…….

I am not so sure, rightwinger. The violence that enforced and also that embroyoed and grew from segregation was symbiotic with the evil practice. It was the complete exposure of what the system did that the pictures of the body in the casket resulted in awakening and enflaming the better angel of America, and began the pursuit and destruction of the darker aspects of racial segregation and hatred.

The lies of 2aguy above shows the righty hatred of race is still with us.

No, segregation didn't energize the Civil Rights movement..the inhumane treatment of black people in this country since it's origin energized it....

And what it took for the rest of America to become allies in that fight instead of enablers -- were stories like Emmet Till, the 3 civil rights workers who were murdered in Mississippi...and this story....

When 4 little girls were blown up inside of their church while getting ready for Sunday school; by a bunch of racist fucks who thought "the South will rise again" -- and then for the police and courts to refuse to do anything about it....that was the tipping point......because with the help of the media, it forced America to look in the mirror...and they didn't like what they saw......

The main victory of the 60's era Civil Rights movement is that it embarrassed these folks out of being blatantly racist....so they had to be more covert...and whined "political correctness" or "woke" over not being able to be blatantly racist anymore...
