The above link explains the numbers released by the U.S Department of Energy, though it wont allow me to find the specific article, my title is the title of the story. This comes a day after Trump was visibly angry about all of the massive trade deficits America have around the world. EIA reports a $39B deficit.

America is a massive energy producer, how does Canada have such a bloated trade surplus in this sector? Trump and his team need to work hard to address the imbalance, there is no was an inefficient nation like Canada that lacks innovation and free markets should have a surplus against America, let alone $39B! This can't be good news for U.S-Canadian harmony, especially with the meat labelling issue and softwood lumber among many other problems hanging overhead.

A few simple steps:

1) Renegotiate NAFTA in fair terms (and proper whistle blower protections for those who know about abuses of NAFTA), barring that, rip it up altogether.
2) Apply a border tax, tariff or whatever term you want to call it. 15-20% Is fair and reasonable considering the massive market access Canadian companies gain, and the higher consumption rate and disposable income that Americans posses.
3) Question Canadian devaluation of the dollar and how it is contributing to the export of jobs to Canada.
4) Work to fighting state sponsored activities of bribery and targeting of American companies and American jobs. As that which happened at GM in which the Canadian government and Ontario paid $550M to GM to remain in Ontario rather than head back to Ohio and/or Michigan.

Snowflakes, alt-left, unpatriotic Americans, do not shed a tear if and when Trump plays hardball with Canada. They have bullied many companies and citizens for decades. If they want to dish it out, they are going to have to learn how to take it too.
