Esteban Santiago claimed he was forced to fight for ISIS, was once investiagted for child porn

Sep 5, 2014 - ISIS hand signal.jpg. ... The Islamic State militants, known as ISIS, are now using a single, raised index finger as the symbol of their cause. It's a well-known sign of power and victory around the world, but for ISIS, it has a more sinister meaning.
It is the shahida.
Possibly. It could also mean this car sucks.

The keffiyeh's (or shemagh's) color is significant since it's green, the color our military uses. Arabs use different colors to signify who they are aligned. Our guys use green or coyote brown.

He's a New Jersey raised Puerto Rican veteran who appears to be a nutjob. I've seen no evidence he's Muslim. His alleged statement about being "forced to fight for ISIS" doesn't make him Muslim. Neither does the scarf as mentioned above.

As for Christians, it was to show the index finger symbol isn't just Muslim, it's also Christian.

Wearing the Muslim scarf and doing the finger thing...along with the beard..either he is a Muslim or he was actually being forced by the gubmint to fight for ISIS....or he really believed the gubmint was forcing him to fight ISIS and dressed the part well.

Obviously he was trying to follow Jesus ... we all know how the NT Jesus went around killing people. Not like the peacful 'Ful-O-Luv' Mohammed guy that the Muslims all follow

According to this report, he is white.

He was a National Guardsman and completed a tour in Iraq. It appears he had personal issues.

And your link has the, uh, darker photo.

Correct. Do you have a link to the lighter photo? Something like this?

Alt-Right Frames Wrong Esteban Santiago for Shooting, Kickstarts Racist Conspiracy Theory
Far rightwing figureheads immediately invented an elaborate and racist conspiracy theory that CNN had lightened a photo of alleged Fort Lauderdale airport shooter Esteban Santiago shortly after the Friday attack.

In reality, CNN had yet to air a picture of Santiago, let alone lightened a picture of him. The conspiracy also used a picture of an entirely different man named Esteban Santiago—not the alleged shooter.

Still, writers at websites like InfoWars and Gateway Pundit tweeted about CNN’s nonexistent Photoshop job. Former Republican Florida Congressman Allen West, who represented Fort Lauderdale itself, even tweeted about the conspiracy and linked to an article about it on his own website.

“Why is CNN attempting to make the shooter look more white? Bizarre,” reads InfoWars editor Paul Joseph Watson’s tweet, which had 3,500 retweets at press time.

Gateway Pundit’s Jim Hoft even wrote a story about the so-called incident, titled “Look How CNN Doctored Photo of Ft. Lauderdale Shooter Esteban Santiago,” which had 2,500 shares in its first hour on Facebook, according to BuzzSumo.

“It appears CNN doctored the photo to make the suspect look more white,” wrote Hoft. “Sad.”

The attached picture, which was neither aired nor lightened by CNN, is of a 39-year-old Esteban Santiago, who lives in New York state. The image was pulled from a Florida sex offender registry.

Instead, the Esteban Santiago who shot 13 people and left five dead in Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport on Friday was born in New Jersey and spent the last several years living in Anchorage, Alaska. According to officials, he is 26, not 39, and is currently in police custody
.

It appears I repeated the mistake since I Googled the picture and came up with the sex offender website. That Santiago was born in 1977, making him almost 40 years old.
That picture was just shown on the news as being Florida shooter Santiago.

It's beginning to look like Santiago's may have been one of the many thousands of young minds that were badly damaged while serving his country in Iraq.

You know. That country chock full o' WMD's and mushroom clouds that we needed to invade 'n stuff.

That data doesn't usually show up in the war casualty counts.

Maybe we should add five. Collateral damage.

5 Dead, 8 Wounded in Airport Shooting; US Veteran Arrested
Jan 06, 2017 — An arriving airline passenger with a gun in his luggage opened fire in the baggage claim area at the Fort Lauderdale airport Friday, killing five people and wounding eight before throwing his weapon down and lying spread-eagle on the ground, authorities and witnesses said.
The gunman — identified by authorities as 26-year-old Esteban Santiago, of Anchorage, Alaska, an Army National Guard veteran who served in Iraq — was immediately taken into custody. His brother said he had been receiving psychological treatment recently. The attack sent panicked passengers running out of the terminal and onto the tarmac, baggage in hand, and forced the shutdown of the entire airport. "People started kind of screaming and trying to get out of any door they could or hide under the chairs," a witness, Mark Lea, told MSNBC. "He just kind of continued coming in, just randomly shooting at people, no rhyme or reason to it." Authorities said the motive was under investigation. "This could well be someone who is mentally deranged, or in fact it could be someone who had a much more sinister motive that we have to worry about every day, and that is terrorism," said Sen. Bill Nelson of Florida. "We can't conclude that." President Barack Obama was briefed by his Homeland Security adviser, the White House said.

It is legal for airline passengers to travel with guns and ammunition as long as the firearms are put in a checked bag — not a carry-on — and are unloaded and locked in a hard-sided container. Guns must be declared to the airline at check-in. Chip LaMarca, a Broward County commissioner who was briefed on the attack by the sheriff's office, told The Associated Press that the shooter had arrived aboard a Canadian flight with a gun in a checked bag. "After he claimed his bag, he went into the bathroom and loaded the gun and started shooting. We don't know why," LaMarca said. However, the Canadian Embassy said the suspect did not arrive from Canada and was not on an Air Canada flight, but instead appeared to have flown from Anchorage, Alaska. The attack took place at Terminal 2, which serves Delta Air Lines and Air Canada.

Lea said the gunman said nothing as he "went up and down the carousels of the baggage claim, shooting through luggage to get at people that were hiding." The killer had a handgun and went through about three magazines of ammunition, Lea said. "He threw the gun down and laid spread-eagle on the ground until the officer came up to him," Lea said. Sheriff Scott Israel said five people were killed and eight were wounded. Their condition was not disclosed. He said the gunman was arrested unharmed, with no law enforcement officers firing any shots, and was being questioned by the FBI. People spilled onto the tarmac, some carrying luggage, and some ran from both Terminals 1 and 2, hiding behind cars or anything else they could find to shield themselves. The airport suspended operations as law enforcement authorities rushed to the scene and emergency medical workers treated the bleeding victims. Fort Lauderdale-bound flights already in the air were delayed or diverted, and those that had yet to take off from the airport were held on the ground.

At least one person appeared to be lying in a pool of blood with a head wound. Santiago's brother, Bryan, told The Associated Press that his brother had been receiving psychological treatment in Alaska. He said Santiago's girlfriend alerted the family to the situation in recent months. Bryan Santiago said that he didn't know what his brother was being treated for and that they never talked about it over the telephone. He said Esteban Santiago was born in New Jersey but moved to Puerto Rico when he was 2. He was deployed to Iraq in 2010 and spent a year there with the 130th Engineer Battalion, according to Puerto Rico National Guard spokesman Maj. Paul Dahlen.

At the Fort Lauderdale airport, John Schilcher told Fox News said he came up to the baggage claim and heard the first gunshot as he picked up his bag off a carousel. "The person next to me fell to the ground and then I started hearing other pops. And as this happened, other people started falling and you could hear it and smell it, and people on either side of me were going down and I just dropped to the ground," said Schilcher, who was there with his wife and mother-in-law. "The firing just went on and on." "I was down on the floor. When we finally looked up there was a policeman standing over me," he said. "That's when I assumed it was safe."

He was investigated by the FBI, Army CID, and the CIA.

Any liberals think we should trust the nation's intelligence agencies.
Investigated, yes. If he was just a nutjob and not a terrorist or aligned with ISIS, what do you think those alphabet agencies should have done? Santiago was already getting psychiatric treatment. It's not illegal in this country to be nuts (look at many of our forum members!). It's only illegal to threaten to harm yourself or others. That's when the law steps in for psych patients.

Unfortunately that's the truth.

.....either he is a Muslim or he was actually being forced by the gubmint to fight for ISIS...
Okey-dokey. I disagree, but am sure we'll know more in few days.
Those are the 3 possibilities.
Occam's razor says there are more, including him being a nutjob, lots of young men wear beards and many military members have shemaghs including me.

Does this make me a Muslim?

You can fill in the blanks easily when you see the picture of him with a muslim-style beard, one of those jihadi scarves on and doing the 'Allah is the only god' pointer finger gesture. He dressed the part.
