Expanded background checks fails in Senate

Where is Obama's political capital?

I imagine it's in the 90% of Americans who support universal background checks on firearms, which is common sense and does not infringe on my rights to own as many weapons as I'd like.

Pretty shameful day. I no longer recognize the Republican party.

That 90% is a BS number. But say it over and over ya know. I'll tall ya what's shameful. That the President just prioritized this as his number one focus while another 9/11 is going on.

I don't understand what the problem with this bill is.

Someone will have to explain why it didn't pass even though it won 54-46 in the Senate.

How are universal background checks an infringement on the 2nd Amendment?

Aren't the Constitutionalists here not aware of the part of the 2nd Amendment that clearly says, "well-regulated"?
The problem is that background checks wouldn't have changed anything in Newtown, or Aurora, or for Gabby Giffords.

The Bam loses, and big.

So you're saying you're for just anyone buying a gun from a trade show and it's okay not to do a background check on that person because of 3 incidents where background checks weren't the problem?

this also proves the clowns on the right we talk to here do no represent more than 10% of the American people

Here in FL, when I purchase a firearm, the seller runs a NCIC check for felonies and domestic violence charges.
What other personal information would you like?

No they run NICS check, you might want to get your acronyms straight.

Just caught the tail end of Obama's comments before the microphone.
Hugging weeping family members.
Damn those Conservatives to hell!

Bama and plugs are nothing but filthy pimps. They could give a fuck less about the Newtown families, and there dead children are nothing more to them then political talking points. This is one of many fails to come for Bamer. Im very sad I did not get to see Hissy Matthews cry. Maybe tommrow.

I'm saying all background checks are totally ineffective....Period.

The final vote was 54 in favor to 46 opposed with two Republicans joining most Democrats in supporting the compromise.

That is just as well for an inept attempt - to say the least.

No need to waist any more political capital, the NRA will be sinking in the mud by its own weight soon enough.

really?

the NRA had to hire temp help to process membership applications

It's a real number from a real poll.

Live in the bubble if you want, where you can just make up your own information, but 90% of us want universal background checks.

Makes sense.

Because you say so?

And only 4% say gun control is a priority. The majority would rather have Congress focus on the economy, jobs, and the deficit & debt problems.

May the NRA be with you.

Because reason is gone.

1# We all know that expanding them will do little to stop the slaughter.
2# What right does the congress have to do this in the first place?

1. most likely true. as most massacres and murders occur when the person becomes unstable far after the purchase of a gun

2. according to scotus, not sure, they have left this open
