Former NSTB investigators are now coming forward and claiming that there was a government coverup of the plane crash that killed 260 people in 1996. Indications are that Bill Clinton did not want to deal with a terrorist act so he ordered the FBI to call it an unfortunate accident when the plane blew up at 13,000 feet shortly after taking off from JFK airport. Many credible witnesses came forward claiming that they saw a missile trail in the sky but the government dismissed it and determined that a short circuit in an (empty?) gas tank caused the crash but no other planes were ever grounded and examined for the same alleged problem. Americans were more than willing to believe that terrorists would never commit such a horrendous act but four years later we learned differently.
