Former Cuban political prisoner warns Americans of socialism.

Yes. I have quite a few mixed feelings about US foreign policy over the last several decades. Put simply, if 'socialism' is so bad, why doesn't our government let it fail on its' own instead of always intervening (openly and covertly )

Angelo, it's not even socialism they're objecting to. It's really just socially repsonsible capitalism as we practice it in Canada, as well as the world's leading democracies.

We Canadians would object to any actual attempts to change our government to socialism.
Social policy always needs to be a part of a capitalist system.

The American people have fallen victim to the wishes and priorities of the rich and powerful and they're going to fight very hard to keep it that way.

The United States is teetering on the edge of socialism, and the pattern of events is similar to what happened in Cuba when it fell from being a prosperous capitalist country into socialism, according to a former Cuban political prisoner.

“I am sure that at this time, there are strong forces inside the United States pushing hard to turn to socialism,” said Luis Zuniga, who was imprisoned for his opposition to communism in Cuba.

He warned that, like what has been experienced in Cuba, those who are pushing the ideology may claim not to be socialists, but it’s only because “they don’t tell you.”

Cuban socialist dictator Fidel Castro and Venezuelan socialist dictator Hugo Chavez didn’t say they were socialists when seeking the people’s support for power, Zuniga told The Epoch Times’ “Crossroads” program in a recent interview. But they both imposed socialism on their countries.

Read Devin Nunes' book too. Very insightful.

Oh for fuck's sake....You're actually comparing Biden to dictators?
That's who we just voted OUT of office, you fucking moron.

the only--fucking moron--in the conversation is---you

only English speaking conservatives in the US and England etc conflate communism and socialism. Along with actual communists in China Cuba and North Korea and Nazis. Every developed country has socialism except the United States which alone refuses universal health Care daycare paid parental leave cheap college and training, and ID card to end illegal immigration and mainly taxing the rich their fair share. And of course mainly taxing the rich their fair share. All developed countries are socialist but the English speaking ones don't know it. France Italy Spain Germany Russia Scandinavia etc have all had socialist and communist parties at the same time and they know the difference, democracy for crying out loud. Socialism is simply Fair capitalism with a good safety net. "We are all socialists now!"--the president of Finland when ObamaCare passed. Of course he didn't know the completely obnoxious and obstructionist GOP and garbage propaganda machine.

Cuba was ruled by a US backed military dictatorship. It was as corrupt as the night is dark. Castro basically replace one dictator with another. There are no pattern to what is happening here that are similar to what has ever happened in Cuba.

But calling Democrats socialist is what they do. They've been calling Democrats that since FDR proposed Social Security nearly 90 years ago. Democrats are the party of Social Security. Republicans just want you to think that is Cuban Socialism.

Economic strife is what caused revolutions in the first place. If capitalism were as fine and wonderful as alleged by the right wing, nobody would want revolution.

In 2010, Cubans were allowed to build their own houses. According to Raúl Castro, they could now improve their houses, but the government would not endorse these new houses or improvements.[235] There is virtually no homelessness in Cuba, and 85% of Cubans own their homes and pay no property taxes or mortgage interest. Mortgage payments may not exceed 10% of a household's combined income.--https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuba#Revolution_of_1933%E2%80%931940

Socialism is collaborative, communal, and cooperative utilization of some shared resources when the people decide it is useful to do so.
So then Cuba is not and never was socialist or communist, but one capitalist dictatorship after another.
But at least Castro had good schools and health care.
