I don't understand some of you people's logic about tangling with an
AR-15.

Those deputies are carrying 9mm handguns, which are semi-automatic.
One round every time you pull the trigger. Both weapons are magazine fed.
It's equal to that point. The AR-15 is more high caliber and has a longer
range, but they aren't firing from 100 yards away.

Plus, when they first arrived on the scene they should have pulled
whatever rifle/shotgun they were carrying in their car.

In a school shooting the first to arrive have only one order. Get in that building
and protect those defenseless students.

These kids have been failed at every level. The President needs to intervene
and fire the agents who dropped the ball with the FBI and possibly the Director.

Governor Scott need to suspend the Sheriff immediately pending removal
from office.

The report states that when Coral Springs police officers arrived on the scene, the four deputies were crouched behind their vehicles with their guns drawn and had not yet entered the school.

You would not go for a head shot, you would go for a Centre Mass shot, we in the Military who have been trained as snipers are trained to shoot at the largest target which is the chest the Centre Mass and you shoot to disable the threat and you keep shooting until the threat is stopped ie. dead. So Law Enforcement also in that school shooting situation would be expected to shoot at Centre Mass and not to go for a head shot.
