More "small" government from your Republican Party. Strip club owners will have to pay a $5,000 fee to the state each year under a new constitutional amendment passed by the Georgia House of Representatives to help fight sex trafficking because.... wait for it......

The bill's text suggest that consuming alcohol and looking at naked women may entice strip club customers to go forth and sexually exploit children and hence the fee is "necessary" and "reasonable." It also suggests that strip clubs are a popular venue for shopping for child sex slaves.

This has to be one of the most absurd deductions I've heard in a long time, but that's the religious right for you.

That is an uncommonly silly deduction. Big government Republicans and big government Democrats are a different side of the same coin.

What are the chances of this bill becoming law?

Uusing the same logic there must be a connection between gambling and learning the ABC's because state lotteries fund education. Where have libs been? Is it a secret that young girls (and boys) are often recruited to the sex trade with drug addiction and end up working in sleazy sex clubs? So-called "sin tax" is nthing new. Tobacco is taxed to death to fund all sorts of programs. What seems to be the issue here? Is it a bad thing to fund programs that fight sex trafficking or will it be a problem for sex clubs to pony up the tax?

The funds raised by the tax goes to fight "human trafficking" which is a problem in strip clubs.

I agree with this bill

Under the proposed amendment, all adult-entertainment businesses would have to pay $5,000 per year or 1 percent of their revenue, whichever is greater, into a state fund for child victims of human trafficking.

OMG.

LOL.

"Small government".

And they wonder why we call them wingnuts....

nuff said.

I don't get it.

If fundies think that strip joints are so morally terrible, then why not shut them down per law? Just pass a state zoning law that literally makes it impossible for porn joints to exist in Geojiah!

Oh, wait, men would just go over the border to find pussy elsewhere, and I bet that 50% of them you can find in church pews on Sunday mornings....

Seems a bit silly, and so does calling out Repubs, didn't see one mention of who sponsored the bill, and who did or didn't vote for it,funny how details like that get mmm left out.

It isn't any more unreasonable to have strip clubs fund efforts to fight sex trafficking than it was to require tobacco companies to fund cancer research.
