We both know that back ground checks won't stop your sons(close caption) from blowing each other away. It's already illegal to own a gun in most major cities...Far more restrictive then a gun check is the fact you can't have one.

In her op-ed, Giffords said polls show that Americans "overwhelmingly" support "expanding background checks." Four independent polls taken in the previous month showed that some sort of expansion of background checks earned the support of between 83 percent and 91 percent of respondents, a level of backing we think qualifies as "overwhelming." We rate her statement True.

I really doubt that the majority of America would be for this Bill if they actually understood it, and the ramifications of it.

I do believe that it probably would have passed if it just entailed the criminal background checks to gun shows. But, it would make criminals out of ordinary citizens to sell their weapons privately without the background check. Also, most Americans didn't know that the background check changed from "mentally ill" to something as simple as a "mental disorder" giving the government sweeping powers on gun ownership.

If they knew those facts, I really doubt that the majority of Americans would be in favor of the Bill. But, the lame stream media has it's agenda, so Americans just get a one sided snippet of the reality.

Economy
Unemployment
Dissatisfaction with gubmint
Debt

as the polls cited are not all on the same thing, nor do they clarify anything at all.. no degrees, no knowledge of existing law, etc.. there is not anything clear that 90% of the populace wants increased gun control.. and that is explained when you further look in to your little 'politifact' claim writeup

There is no proof as every poll is showing different results on different subjects without informing what is already existing in law.. it is a bullshit claim and a bullshit way of backing it up

You can ask people whether they want a better than average sex life.. not saying what the improvement is, not saying what the baseline is taken from, not stating any real details.. and then you can claim people support legislation that will improve their sex life by legalizing prostitution
