I'm curious about thoughts about the following Gender Gap scenario.

Lets say that the Tech industry has 100 job openings. 150 men apply and 50 women apply. Lets say half the men get hired and half the women get hired. The industry would then be comprised of 75 men and 25 women... a 3-1 ratio.

Would you consider this a gender gap problem or no?

Thats BS. America is the land of opportunity and its important to make sure that all citizens receive equally opportunity to succeed in our country. If a group is being favored or discriminated against through either wage suppression or job opportunities because of race, religion, gender, or sexuality then it goes against the spirit of what I consider America to be about. These issues have happened in the past and continue to happen today. So the question is how to best deal with it. What do we measure, where do we draw the lines, and how do we regulate in a way that still allows businesses to operate in a free way

If the women and men are equally qualified then it come down to choice.

So you would hire the fifty women and the fifty men and make it equal across the board.

Some might take age into consideration and if the woman is in her years where she might want to start a family but for me it would be fifty-fifty split if the candidates were equal...

Yet it still happens...

Well, it does and it always will. Hell, my ex-sister in law is a lesbian and only hires lesbians. Being a gay female is a prerequisite. Now, I can tell you from experience, more often than not, women cannot do t he same job as men. Not because they are less qualified mind you. A lot of the time they cannot travel or work weekends due to family restraints.

You cannot say that if women are 52% of the population that all jobs must be 52% women. The numbers don't automatically mean a gender gap...
