George Washington's Church Says Plaque Honoring First President Must Come Down

Yeah this is getting dumb

Christ Church in Alexandria, Virginia will take down a memorial marking the pew where Washington sat with his family, saying it is not acceptable to all worshipers.

“The plaques in our sanctuary make some in our presence feel unsafe or unwelcome," leaders said, a reference to the fact that Washington was a slaveholder.

"Some visitors and guests who worship with us choose not to return because they receive an unintended message from the prominent presence of the plaques.”

It could be other churches saw an "unfair advantage", or some members felt visitors came to services only to gawk at the memorial.

They should come to memorialize the man that lead our great republic through its most turbulent days.

Bishop George Berkeley came to the New World to "establish a College or Seminary in Bermuda--known as the Summer Islands." Berkeley described his plans in his 1725 "A Proposal for the Better Supplying of Churches in our Foreign Plantations and Converting the Savage Americans to Christianity by a College to be Erected in the Summer Islands, otherwise called the Isles of Bermuda."

While he proposed slavery as the best way to Christianize black people, he proposed a different way for native North Americans. He thought the best people to convert Native Americans to Christianity would be the Native Americans themselves. Berkeley College

It's not getting it's been dumb for some time now as I said on another thread about this we are slowly becoming a nation of candy asses who won't be able to leave the house for fear of seeing or hearing something that upsets them.
