I could not BEGIN to care less what Germany or Germans think of us. Frankly, why we were interested in helping them put their nation back together 80 years ago is well beyond me

The world can see what Trump is -- a buffoon and a con man -- and just can't understand why we can't. They ask what happened to us.

They also know he is completely transactional and therefore can't be trusted. They'll just leave him out and continue improve on their relationships, as they did before.

We'll just keep isolating ourselves, thinking we're better than everyone else. It is what it is. The question will be what it looks like when it's over.
