Give to the Red Cross, unless your name is Romney

It has the word cross in the name, that makes it religious to idiots.

The Red Cross is a religious organisation, much like the Salvation Army. Most charities are.

Funding Sources for Red Cross

Charitable donations from the American public
Participation in the United Way and Combined Federal Campaigns
Reimbursements and grants from local, state and federal government agencies for specific projects

Don't see much religion there.

Whether they are or aren't, they are not always the best charity to donate to.

No they don't.

You ever work for the Red Cross?

I did. We had to warehouse a shit load of clothing they couldn't use.

That..costs money.

I worked for The Salvation Army, everything helps. If the Red Cross can't figure out what to do with the clothes they don't deserve my money.

Either you are as stupid as a brick or this is "satire". Which is it? I honestly can't tell.

Which part is satire?

I couldn't find one of Mitt Romney actually driving the truck. Course, the roads are blocked. The airports shut. The trains not moving.

What is Romney going to do with all that shit. You know he doesn't eat food from a can. He probably doesn't know how to use a can-opener.

The Red Cross isn't a religious organization.

Good grief. Can anyone possibly be as ignorant as noomi is on as many subjects?

It has never been a religious organization.

  • The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a private humanitarian institution founded in 1863 in Geneva, Switzerland, by Henry Dunant and Gustave Moynier. Its 25-member committee has a unique authority under international humanitarian law to protect the life and dignity of the victims of international and internal armed conflicts. The ICRC was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on three occasions (in 1917, 1944 and 1963).[3]
  • The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) was founded in 1919 and today it coordinates activities between the 188 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies within the Movement. On an international level, the Federation leads and organizes, in close cooperation with the National Societies, relief assistance missions responding to large-scale emergencies. The International Federation Secretariat is based in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1963, the Federation (then known as the League of Red Cross Societies) was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize jointly with the ICRC.[3]

Fair enough then.

Unlike you, KG, I am willing to admit it when I am wrong.

What? Most charities are not religious. I bet that I can name a dozen charities without going to Google that are not religious. AS for the Red Cross, it is not now, nor has it ever been, religious. Feel free to prove me wrong, or shut the fuck up.

I just can't imagine what compels noomi to present complete and utter lunacy, that is, btw, easily checked, as fact. Does it ever occur to her to look up something before she says things so completely wrong that she looks like a total nitwit?

Obviously not. Before you speak, think about what you're saying. Please. It's distracting to the rest of us to continually be hit with random idiocies.

Look Noomi, even rdean is calling you out on that one. For once he is right.

Actually, I heard Romney bought $5,000 worth of food at the local Wal-Mart and passed it off as "donations"...

You can Google it...

He bought $5000 worth of food, with his own money, and is donating it in order to make it look like they got food to donate.

Gotta admit, I didn't see that one.

TV news said it was campaign money.

Post a link that says it was his money.

That's my question.

If the Red Cross can't figure out what to do with the clothes they don't deserve my money.

They don't have the personnel to sort through stinky used clothes, some with "bugs". Probably not washed. And if they were yours? Well....

Try to figure out the difference between helping the poor and helping "disaster victims". If you have trouble, think "roads, planes, trains" and who has them and who doesn't and why that makes an impact.

If you still have trouble, ask and I will try to help. But I must say, well, nevermind.

Any links to back that up?

I saw it on the news earlier but then, I don't watch fux.

They tried to stage this big photo op but, just like always, they screwed it up.

Two jars of peanut butter went through the line twice so Romney could thank a couple of kids - twice. They spent $5000 of campaign money (is that legal?) to buy stuff at walmart and pretend it had been donated. Then, the volunteers had to unload it and wait for LyinRyan to get there to pretend to be loading it.

Business as usual for the most dishonest and corrupt pair ever to buy or steal a vote.

and you have the gall to bitch about Right Wingers Politicizing this thing?.....what the fuck have you been doing?....phony old basterd....

It's not politicizing the disaster, to buy a bunch of stuff at Walmart, so supporters could pretend they're making a donation?

Romney is getting reamed in Ohio for his staged phony relief event. Even our nutty conservative national media was shocked by the brazen sleaze of it. Hence the Republican panic here. Ohio is out of reach forever now, and with it goes the last of Romney's hopes.

And I'm sure spitting hatred at the Red Cross is sure to bring in some more votes to the Republicans. Well done there.

Any links to back that up?

The Making Of Romney's Storm Relief Event

The plan was for supporters to bring hurricane relief supplies to the event and then deliver the bags of canned goods, packages of diapers, and cases of water bottles to the candidate, who would be perched behind a table along with a slew of volunteers and his Ohio right-hand man, Senator Rob Portman. To complete the project and photo op, Romney would lead his crew in carrying the goods out of the gymnasium and into the Penske rental truck parked outside.

But the last-minute nature of the call for donations left some in the campaign concerned that they would end up with an empty truck. So the night before the event, campaign aides went to a local Wal-Mart and spent $5,000 on granola bars, canned food, and diapers to put on display while they waited for donations to come in, according to one staffer. (The campaign confirmed that it "did donate supplies to the relief effort," but would not specify how much it spent.)

...

Empty-handed supporters pled for entrance, with one woman asking, "What if we dropped off our donations up front?"

The volunteer gestured toward a pile of groceries conveniently stacked near the candidate. "Just grab something," he said.

Two teenage boys retrieved a jar of peanut butter each, and got in line. When it was their turn, they handed their "donations" to Romney. He took them, smiled, and offered an earnest "Thank you."

oh... buzzfeed. it HAS to be true, huh
