Global warming is creating MORE ice: Antarctic levels reach a record high because of climate change, scientists claim

Earlier this year, global warming was blamed for the ‘irreversible retreat’ of west Antarctic glaciers.

But now scientists claim that warming of the planet is in fact behind a paradoxical growth in South Pole sea ice.

The comments come as Antarctica’s sea ice set a record this week, reaching 815,448 square miles (1,312,000 square km) of ice above its normal range.

Scientists believe the shift is caused by water melting from beneath the Antarctic ice shelves and re-freezing back on the surface.

‘The primary reason for this is the nature of the circulation of the Southern Ocean — water heated in high southern latitudes is carried equatorward, to be replaced by colder waters upwelling from below, which inhibits ice loss,’ Mark Serreze, director of the National Snow and Ice Data Centre, told Harold Ambler at Talking About the Weather.

However, as reported in a separate blog post by Mr Ambler, Nasa scientist Walt Meier said that growing Antarctic sea ice coverage is less significant a measure than declining Arctic sea ice coverage when assessing climate change.​

Al Gore can go to hell, I am being critical and unbiased here. Ask any farmer. Given how often I've posted the paper showing that the Antarctic sea ice growth and the reasons for i were correclty predicted back in 1991, no need to do so again. After all, deniers would ignore it again. That's why they're called deniers, because they deny any data that contradicts their religion.

However, according to Dave here, AGW scientists making yet another correct prediction proves that AGW scientists were wrong. That's one illustration of why nobody pays any attention to deniers.

The prices are going up more as a cost of fuel price increases than anything else. That has had a far greater impact on prices for EVERYTHING.

So great big thick chunks of ice are melting and being replaced by thin surface ice and therefore we are not warming.

Wouldn't want you to miss the nuanced humor in all of this Cynic.. The argument is that sea rooted ass ends of glaciers are being eroded by "warming waters of the Southern Ocean" which are actually NOT warming as shown in the plot below. And furthermore that the most recent studies that kicked off that news confusion ADMIT that the scientists know little about the dynamics of the West Ant. Ice Shelf -- but that doesn't stop them from guessing does it? The HUMOR is that the same "warming waters" causing the erosion are sustaining ever growing areas of SEA ICE.. Get it??

Meanwhile -- back on the CONTINENT of Antarctica where it is currently -40degC and very dark --- NOTHING is happening to the land based masses of these glaciers because of 0.5degC change in Global Warming.. It's HYSTERICAL !!!!!
