KKK Leader: 'We're a Christian Organization;' Claims the Klan Is Not a Hate Group

"The president of a Virginia Ku Klux Klan group claims that the KKK is a faith-based Christian organization that does not condone violence.

"We don't hate people because of their race. We are a Christian organization," Frank Ancona, the imperial wizard of the Traditional American Knights of the KKK, told NBC 12, distancing himself from the Klan's violent history, asserting that he is seeking to "set the record straight.""

In our modern age anything at all can be anything at all. When Wittgenstein wrote that all problems surround the use of language one would wonder what he would think of today. Consider the Civil war was not fought over slavery but state's rights and you realize you are in the land of Harry Frankfurt. Everything means whatever the spin artist wants it to mean. Soon you will read a history in which the KKK was a noble American institution and some will tell you vehemently it is so.

"My grandmother used to speak of Klansmen riding through Louisiana at night, how she could see their white robes shimmering in the dark, how black people hid in bayous to escape them. Before her time, during Reconstruction, Ku Klux Klan members believed they could scare superstitious black people out of their newly won freedom. They wore terrifying costumes but were not exactly hiding — many former slaves recognized bosses and neighbors under their white sheets. They were haunting in masks, a seen yet unseen terror. In addition to killing and beating black people, they often claimed to be the ghosts of dead Confederate soldiers." http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/19/magazine/white-terrorism-is-as-old-as-america.html

"You learned the concept 'pain' when you learned language." Ludwig Wittgenstein

"It is just this lack of connection to a concern with truth - this indifference to how things really are - that I regard as of the essence of bullshit." Harry Frankfurt

Would have been smarter just to start another club instead of pretending the KKK was not a racist organization. I think this is just propaganda for the truly illiterate to breathe in and believe.

Well, the entire history of Christianity is filled with denominations splintering off into more or less strict versions. Maybe this is just that and KKK is going all liberal? :)

The Klan has always, at least since the second iteration a hundred years ago, sold itself as a "white Christian" organization. This is in no way a new tactic. We all know that, right?

Ancona, the guy under the hood in the article, has some history gaps too:

>> Ancona described the KKK as a group that's "not about hate." And asserted that the groups is "about love for God, race and nation." He also claimed that Jesus was not a Jew, and said the crowd only "called him a Jew to mock him," adding, "the Jews killed Christ." <<

William Simmons, who restarted the Klan in 1915, insisted throughout his time with his new Klan, that it was a "social club", even when he was hauled before Congress to address this same question. He too distanced himself from his own group's violence.

The timing of this is directly related to the Anonymous release of Klan membership names today, is it not?
