GOP exposing U.S. as weak emboldens Putin

Sadly, all you could come up with is a cartoon to make a ridiculous point.

ridiculous point? what would that be jarhead? Your people blew $4TRILLION + on decade + long wars w/ 1000's of casualties & now you people think you have ANY business critiquing foreign policy? Priceless  GTFO

Hey sparky....read these (thanks to a post by PolicalChic)...REALLY....read them........bet you don't!

"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."
President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998.

"Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face."
Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998.

"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983."
Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18,1998.

"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs."
Letter to President Clinton, signed by Sens. Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others Oct. 9, 1998

"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998.

"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999.

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003 | Source

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."

Your repsonse is the very problem. Because you are so partisan, the only thing you can see in my perspective is partisanship. I am not a very poltical person and am only a Democrat because as an independent, I cannot vote in primaries. I often post on here things in complete contrast to the 'party line.' I am not a pure partisan as you are labeling me. I know that. You wish to believe otherwise because YOU are the one who is blinded by partisanship. I know that the GOP, over and over again, does whatever they think it takes to bring down a Democratic administration, however much of American tax dollars, however much of a distraction it is for an administration, however much they have to invent a scandal, and on an on. Because you refuse to see my point, you just call me a pure partisan and dismiss me. You are being intellectually false, a fake, in doing so.

You can't be partisan if you don't have respect for any politicians Esmeralda.
Partisan is a committed member of a political party.

Funny...

I tell her both parties play that game and she says that I believe that because I am partisan.

Interesting.

Yes it is interesting.
It's also insightful.

wheres the yellowcake? Mobile bio labs? I'll wait for your links  They sexed-up the intel. Every school child knows this.

So it's the GOP exposing weakness instead of the President?

All Obama has to do to show strength is to be strong. How are we to blame for his incompetance?

The republicans are telling the whole world that the United states is weak. It is totally anti-American and treasonous. It's worse than Snowden's revelations. Playing politics with America's reputation, shows that the right wingers will do anything to make Obama look bad. If the voters of this country don't vote the republicans out of congress this year, they are as dumb as the GOP hopes they are.

Your headline "GOP exposing U.S. as weak emboldens Putin". So your complaint isn't that obie is a weak leader and therefore through his own actions making the US weak in foreign affairs. Your complaint is that people are actually pointing out this president is a pathetic wind bag and that's the problem.

Being weak isn't a problem unless your weakness is exposed. Like that somehow hides this fact. As long as nobody discusses the elephant in the room it doesn't exist.

Obama can counter this by simply manning up.

and do what? bomb Russia?

start another 10 year long war we can't afford for no reason.

yeah, that's the ticket.

or perhaps the Obama deranged can start to understand that their insanity is bordering on treasonous.

So far, all the cons are laughing at their treason. They should change the name of their party to the Benedick Arnold Party. So proud to aid the enemy.

So lets see....

Harry Reid announces to the world as the Senate Majority leader....."the war is lost" while our men and women are still in harms way is NOT treason.....

But a few politicians saying that our approach to Russia is weak IS treason.

Got it.

Go take a bath. My guess is you need one.

Sorry?

What was he suppose to say?

Mission Accomplished?

Bush and the whole PNAC crowd stopped listening to everyone.

They knocked over Iraq. They disbanded the Iraqi military. The refused to acknowledge there was an uprising taking place. They refused to acknowledge a civil war was taking place. They refused to acknowledge thousands of Iraqis were being slaughtered. They stopped letting the Press photograph the war dead. They stopped even recognizing anyone was getting killed there..and it got so bad..that Daddy had to send in the A-Team to clean it up.

I doubt if Baker and Gates joined the cabinet on Baby Bush's request.

And if people just piped down and said nothing? The situation would have never ever stabilized enough for us to finally leave that fiasco.

A joint resolution to authorize the use of United States Armed Forces against those responsible for the recent attacks launched against the United States.

9/14/2001. Authorizes the President to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons, in order to prevent any future acts of international terrorism against the United States by such nations, organizations, or persons.
States that this Act is intended to constitute specific statutory authorization within the meaning of the War Powers Resolution.

That's the resolution.

It says NOTHING about WMDs.

Bush said that Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11.

Quite simply he violated the resolution by attacking Iraq.

why is your only alternative to what he is doing, war?

Listen closely. NO ONE is suggesting a war. No one will win a war like that...no matter WHO comes on top.

In my opinion, the best policy for this is isolation. Now, let me explain before you go off on some rant about what an ass I am......

What did Obama do right? He threatened sanctions. He threatened the G8. He threatened the paralymics.

What did he do wrong? What showed a sign of weakness?

Sending Kerry...or ANYBODY there to "discuss things". It gave the action credence. It gave Putin the comfort of knowing that we are willing to "negotiate" to end the situation.

Why is that a sign of weakness?

If someone stole your best friends bike, do you think it is a sign of weakness by going to the thief and saying "what can we do to get you to give that bike back?"

Why should you do/give ANYTHING to get that bike back? It is giving in to an unprovoked action.

In my opinion, I would have liked Obama to have said this:

Russia is out of line and they are to retreat immediately. If, in fact, they are concerned about the welfare of the people of Ukraine as they claim, we will gladly help the Russians come up with different ideas on how to achieve a working government. But we will NOT do ANYTHING until they retreat from the border. In the meantime, we are prepared to levy sanctions against Russia including, but not limited to economic and social.

Sure, he said some things...but then he made Russia "important" by sending one of our leaders over to discuss things.

It showed concern...and in a situation like this, showing concern is showing weakness.

Dont blame the pubs. This president is weak, drawing lines and not acting. My bad.

This was the one they used..

The resolution cited many factors to justify the use of military force against Iraq:[2][3]

Iraq's noncompliance with the conditions of the 1991 ceasefire agreement, including interference with U.N. weapons inspectors.
Iraq "continuing to possess and develop a significant chemical and biological weapons capability" and "actively seeking a nuclear weapons capability" posed a "threat to the national security of the United States and international peace and security in the Persian Gulf region."
Iraq's "brutal repression of its civilian population."
Iraq's "capability and willingness to use weapons of mass destruction against other nations and its own people".
Iraq's hostility towards the United States as demonstrated by the 1993 assassination attempt on former President George H. W. Bush and firing on coalition aircraft enforcing the no-fly zones following the 1991 Gulf War.
Members of al-Qaeda, an organization bearing responsibility for attacks on the United States, its citizens, and interests, including the attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, are known to be in Iraq.
Iraq's "continu[ing] to aid and harbor other international terrorist organizations," including anti-United States terrorist organizations.
Iraq paid bounty to families of suicide bombers.
The efforts by the Congress and the President to fight terrorists, and those who aided or harbored them.
The authorization by the Constitution and the Congress for the President to fight anti-United States terrorism.
The governments in Turkey, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia feared Saddam and wanted him removed from power.
Citing the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, the resolution reiterated that it should be the policy of the United States to remove the Saddam Hussein regime and promote a democratic replacement.
Iraq Resolution - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Which one of the "reasons" holds up today?

Sadam wanted the world to believe he still had wmd's and the world did believe him.

This isn't just about Bush.

94 Nations believed Iraq had WMD & 84 Iraqi scientist.

Nations that said Iraq had WMD's ;

Israel, Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Spain, Canada, U.S.A. France, England, Russia, Iran, Ireland, Kuwait and on and on went on record and said Iraq had WMD.

In the U.S. House of Rep: 178 Democratic members said they believed that Iraq had WMD

In the U.S. Senate 31 Democratic members including Clinton-D N.Y. believed Iraq had WMD

Also, 84 separate Iraqi scientist said they worked on WMD, touched them, saw them.

1. Looney left mocked bush through
his entire presidency.
2. Counted our soldiers deaths daily. When the number hit a thousand, the lefties celebrated.
3. Outraged at water boarding our enemy's, eventhough our troops are water boarded as part of their training. Even though were totally silent when our enemy killed 3 americans. What difference does it make?
4. Kerry made up lies about our soldiers terrorizing villages, raping women. Just think, liberals wanted him to be president.
5. Harry ried stated that the war in iraq was lost while we were still fighting the war.
6. Obama stated bush was unpatriotic for spending, while he has out spent all presidents combined.
7. Dan rather was gonna run a made up story about bush and he knew it was made up.
That's just a few of the liberal treasonous acts the left pulled during the bush years.
