You are talking about two different groups of people. Christians on the left and so-called Christians on the right have no objection to iconic or graphic Christian images...that is, unless they adhere to the commandment that reads: "Thou shalt have no graven images before Me." Atheists or agnostics are represented in both sides of the political isle. Please don't try to align them solely with the Left. You know....................Jesus said that the poor will always be with us.
There is also a point in Jewish theology that says that you should lay about 10 percent of your land to be grown for the poor.
Sorry, but God wanted us to care for those less fortunate. God is kinda socialist in that way.
Why is it people want to use God and Jesus when it suits them? They want to boast the teachings of the bible, yet wish to remove crosses that are displayed in public or prohibit the display of nativity scenes.
Seems to me this nation has already decided to reject the biblical references in regard to how we are to care for one another and the less fortunate, so why raise the concern now for Jesus' point of view in the matter?
No, this nation has rejected the god of conservatism called mammon when Obama was voted in. The love of money and the callous obsession with wealth is central to Republicanism and breeds insensitivity towards those deemed less fortunate. Now is the time to raise Jesus' name in victory over mammon.
The "Liberal interpretation of " Separation of Church and State?" Please elaborate. I am not sure I have heard that one!I'm sure we don't need to hear biblical references from the government, after fighting so hard to uphold the liberal interpretation of "separation of church and state".
