Horse shit. Government is nothing more than an organized criminal gang. One week it sides with this group of people, and the next week it sides with another, but it's always on it's own side. It does whatever it needs to do to retain power and grow.

Actually gov't is a useful tool for accomplishing those functions that it's citizens cannot do individually. Some regimes have used for the purposes described in the OP, but that isn't really what it's for.

Government isn't necessary at all, but it will always try to convince you that it's indispensable.

No, it's not. At best, in a democracy, government represents the majority of the people. We need strict limits on government power to prevent the majority from victimizing everyone else.
