And fetal heart beats kick in about 5 weeks and one day after gestation begins. Basically a slightly late period. Most women have no idea they are pregnant at that point.

Most women miss thier period 2 weeks after fertilization. You miss your period after a rape, it would be wise to assume you are pregnant and not wait 5 weeks assuming you are just late.
