"Gun Nuts" ???

If you fear the government and arm yourself to take up arms against your country.....you ARE a gun nut
If you are willing to kill to protect your guns.........you ARE a gun nut

Guns are for sport, hunting, self-protection ,collecting and most importantly defending this nation. That defense of this nation is primarily the role of our military . Where it is the citizen's role additionally extends to the protection of this nation ,the constitution and the principles on which the nation was founded. That includes protecting against any government that would destroy the foundation. We have 2nd Amendment for a reason, it was not tossed in there on a flimsy whim.

Americans have always been willing to kill to protect Liberty, Property and the Representative Republic that governs us. Yes, even should that Republic become so corrupt as to attempt destruction of the foundation we are duty bound to oppose it by vote and if need arises by armed violence.

Two examples presented for your edification. I love sharing information and brilliant thoughts from such great men and great leaders. Enjoy.

Our Constitution provided it's citizens a much more powerful weapon than firearms. It provide a vote and a free press to keep voters informed of the actions of Government

That weapon has kept this nation free for 235 years. We have yet to rely on armed citizens and frankly, never will

While armed citizens may have been a solution in Jeffersons time, they are now mere tokens against a modern army

No......Token as in token opposition

I am merely mocking the gun nuts (yes GUN NUTS) who cradle their sacred weapons and fantasize about the day when they will fight off the evil government troops

The only people who would deny their is a gang problem are gang members and people in denial.
So which are you?
Dumb ass

Cleetus- Most gun deaths are not gangs.

Most gun deaths are sucides and Cleetus Shooting Goober over who drank the last can of Milwaukee's Best.

And while normally, I wouldn't have a problem with this thinning of your sort of the gene pool in a Darwinian way, the fact that we occassionally have the HOlmeses and Lanzas of the world shooting rooms full of kids is unacceptable...

So everyone out of the pool.

Liberals like to refer to people who support the Second Amendment as being "gun nuts".

By this rationale would those who support the First Amendment be considered "word nuts"?

Sure, I think that's reasonable. Although I'd prefer it be some kind of jeu de mots.
Word Wackos...
Lexicon Loons...
Paragraph Pimps...
Tome Tittilators...
Speech Sluts...

I could make up some more for gun nuts too, no charge, pun intended.
Not sure what "liberalism" has to do with any of this though. I mean I don't think Rupert Murdoch is a 'liberal'.

Yea, the Southern Confederacy was really successful at that, weren't they?

Sure, but fortunately for them there have been no technological advancements in armaments since then at all, especially weapons that only the gummint would have. If that were the case there would be no foundation for that argument. Good thing that didn't happen then.

OK, let's go at it again - North v South. The south would still have a chance since literacy has nothing to do with firing a gun.

the casualty figures don't lie.

Nope, we don't have a gang problem, we've got a gun problem as a country.

Because when the city of Chicago tried to ban guns, the gun industry set up gun shops in the surrounding suburbs that didn't ask pesky questions...

True.

And right next door is Indiana, the Alabama of the Midwest.

Of course the problem isn’t only easy access to guns in nearby jurisdictions, but a problem of poverty, lack of education, and lack of opportunity. And the biggest problem is our refusal to acknowledge and address these problems, likely because they’re perceived to bee too difficult, too complex, with no easy solutions at hand.

But it’s clearly not a problem that can be solved by greater restrictions on firearms or a more heavily armed population.

Shelby Foote, great southerner and great historian, said on Ken Burns' "Civil War" that the south never had a chance to win that war once the north got serious about it. They just didn't pour all their resources into it at the beginning.

Press is in the tank for Obama and big government. Vote isn't all that secure either. An informed citizenry is necessary for our system of government to operate and remain secure and successful. We currently have not that informed public. Instead we have a conditioned and uninformed citizenry. That by design and ripe for a radical leftist agenda to succeed.
Then along comes Obama, coincidence, I think not.

By extension, should there be "word control"? After all a quick view of this or similar forum makes it obvious that there are those who can't handle words responsibly...

"Assault words" ban? (Actually we already have that in most places)
Background checks for writing? There's an idea.

South had the war won early on but failed to enter Washington and burn it down. War is about being ruthless until victory is won. Lee decided to turn back and not take Washington.
Great for the nation but a poor choice made for Southern victory because shortly after that the tide steadily turned despite the superior fighting ability of the rebels. The South did not have the manufacturing base to sustain a long war.
Victory must be snatched firmly with both hands when it presents itself otherwise ery often defeat quickly takes its place.

Lee's greatest mistake saved the Union!

Evidence in support? Or is that evidence suppressed by the vast leftwing media conspiracy?

Otherwise it’s telling how you and others on the right seek to lay the blame for all your misfortunes everywhere but where it belongs: with republicans.
