Haley announces $285M cut in 2018-19 UN operating budget

Calling it “a big step in the right direction,” U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley on Sunday night announced a historic reduction in the U.N. biennial operating budget.

Haley said the plan calls for a $285 million cut for the 2018-19 fiscal year.

“The inefficiency and overspending of the United Nations are well known,” Haley said. “We will no longer let the generosity of the American people be taken advantage of or remain unchecked."

Why not a billion? Not impressed as they could have cut more to pay for their big infrastructure schemes coming down the road. It is a starte, it not the big bold moves one expects from team trump. I mean what does a 285 million dollar cut make in a 5.4 billion dollar budget? I’m not impressed. Honestly, get the folks who work at the UN to pay their tickets. Now that would make a huge difference I’m thinking.

Hell yes!

Cut that Spending!

We can save about $4 Billion by cutting the EPA budget in half.

We’ve hosted and paid the plurality of U.N. expenses for decades.

Shouldn’t the other nations pay their fair share?

Dems are all about that.

Nations should pay according to their debt.

The more debt they have, the less they should pay in UN expenses.

We can save 15 times that much by cutting the DOD budget by a measly 10%
Nope. We must build up our military and make it sophisticated and stronger than ever, especially in this time that a conflict could break out with North Korea at any moment. The best bet is to cut welfare off from minorities.

Give the saved cash to our Vets. After what Hussein did to our VA, the Vets sure could use the extra cash. Just a suggestion anyway.

It's a good step, but we should cut off ALL funds to the UN.

Funding the UN should be on a voluntary basis. US Citizens shouldn't be forced to fund it. It's a foreign Globalist entity that doesn't always have American Citizens' best interests in mind. Therefore, no US Citizen should be forced to fund it.

Now let's kick the UN out of New York City. Let them move to Harare.
