They made it up did they ? I'm shocked, shocked I tell you !

Campaign trail whoppers dominate The Washington Post's annual list of the biggest political "Pinocchios" of 2015, published Monday. But among a collection of dubious statements that earned four "Pinocchios" from Republican poll leader Donald Trump and other candidates is the phrase that launched countless protests and calls for police accountability and reform: "hands up, don't shoot."

Those words, which rose to the public consciousness following the August 2014 shooting of Michael Brown by police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri, rang hollow with federal investigators. As the Post first noted in its March 19 fact check, a St. Louis County jury could not confirm testimonies to the effect that Brown had been holding his hands above his head and telling Wilson not to shoot him. A Department of Justice investigation released earlier in March could not corroborate those details, either, after interviewing roughly 40 witnesses.
The phrase took off more than a year ago, becoming a rallying cry for protesters and others trying to draw attention to the death of Brown and other African Americans at the hands of police officers. In November 2014, some members of the St. Louis Rams ran out on the field during pregame introductions with their hands raised above their heads, an action repeated by four members of the Congressional Black Caucus on the House floor in December 2014.

Yeah, it's funny how they can't corroborate these things if no one gets them on tape.

It seems like cops only misbehave when there are video cameras around.

You know, like when that guy shot Laquan McDonald 16 times, it was totally justified, his fellow cops said.

Until the videotape got released.

Joe, on a scale of 1-10, how much do you hate being White?

Probably a 1.

Shit, man, being white male and Christian in this society is pretty awesome. It's a great gig if you can get it.

But most sensible people don't want cops gunning down people in the middle of the street over minor offenses.

So let's compare, shall we.

Mike Brown steals some cigars, and gets gunned down in the middle of the street.

Dylan Roof shoots nine people in a church, and they take him to Burger King because the poor dear was looking a little peckish.

It's pretty awesome to be white in this country, isn't it?

Let's try another one.

Laquan McDonald doesn't drop a pocket knife because he's stone. He gets shot 16 times, 15 of them when he's on the ground in a fetal position.

Jerad and Amanda Miller (who liked to dress up like the Joker and Harley Quinn) and a bunch of other white nuts wave guns at federal agents at Cliven Bundy's ranch, and not a one of them gets shot because someone feels "Threatened". The Millers would go on to shoot two cops in a Las Vegas Mall.

Hand up dont shoot is what the kids say in Chicago

BLM is a joke and should be labeled a terrorist group

Yeah, shit happens; but you're right: it's better to be White (or at least act like one).

anyone think they will Apologize for spreading that lie on the people in the country?

yeah right

No, better would be everyone being treated equally by the law and the police showing appropriate j udgement.

You see, I don't really have a big problem with taking Dylan Roof out for Burger King. Maybe he'll relax and make incriminating statements. Maybe he'll tell you if he had accomplices. You can make the argument that it was good police work, building trust with him before he lawyered up.

I have a huge problem with shooting Laquan McDonald 16 times when he obviously wasn't a threat, then trying to cover it up, then paying the family hush money (who do you think pays for that?) and having people practically threaten riots before someone is held accountable.

If blacks are angry, they have a right to be. This sort of thing IS unacceptable. It also makes the lives of the good cops (the vast majority) harder because people don't trust them because of the bad apples.

And look at the damage it caused.

The zealots don't care about that, of course.
.

That is the most important point. The media is responsible for the riots and murder of police officers, and no one that I know of has even brought that up. This was a case of deliberate malicious demagoguery, and it cost innocent people their businesses and even their lives.

"Journalistic integrity" is a term only used in punchlines anymore.

I agree. it's been horrible what they have been doing, intentionally fueling these riots, lootings and now getting innocent police offices hunted down and killed. they pick up on ONE incident and run it like it's the normal and then we see them holding up their hands on National television when it was a LIE to began with. people need to understand this media has become dangerous to us.

Love the spin dude.

From CNN that station should be shunned. they just put out anything without thinking of if it's true or not

Obama destroyed the life of a good honest cop.
Both the State of Missouri and Obamas DOJ said he acted appropriately to the threat of the criminal.
Stick that where the sun don't shine.

The zealots will accept any collateral damage in their cause. This includes further divisions between the races, any exacerbation of tensions and animosities, and most dangerously a inhibition of people to communicate with each other and authorities.

Nasty and destructive. And again, they don't care.

Wow, and there it is. This is where we are.
