Seems to me you can ask any price you want for a property you own, and a buyer can take it or leave it. In an economy without government interference, the market itself finds the “correct” price.

Ask too much, and you get no buyers. (Unless there’s a sucker, and that’s his fault.) Ask too little, and you’ll get a bidding war (which is sometimes an intentional strategy).

So, unless the Commiela gets in, of course you can’t get sued. It the Commie Couple get in, who knows? You can end up being charged fr just about anything.

She didn’t mention where the money will come from (although I’ve been muting her on and off as the nausea starts to build). And now she’s saying that Trump’s plan will punish working people, while hers helps them.

Her entire plan is just giving money to more people. It’s the same old Dem platform - lots of promised giveaways, and with no plan as to how to pay for them.
 
Actually depends on how you do it. EBT benefits for instance kind of pay for themselves by encouraging scale of production. At one point that would bring the prices down for everybody. However inflation has managed to erase that benefit.
All spending “encourages” production, but it doesn’t necessarily guarantee it depending on other factors, such as labor supply and trade policy.

Yeah....clueless....it will actually make the housing shortage worse. Better to take 200 and build a house....it would have a more long lasting effect.

A downpayment is designed to prove you have the financial wherewithal to save $25,000 for a house purchase. If you can’t do that, they you really cannot afford a house.

Vice President Kamala Harris will outline sweeping new federal subsidies for first-time homebuyers Friday when she addresses a rally in North Carolina.
Bloomberg reports the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee will propose offering as much as $25,000 for first-time homeowners as down payment aid via funding provided by taxpayers.
Under the program, more than one million first-time home buyers who have a two-year history of on-time rent payments would be eligible for “down-payment support” and leverage into a purchase.
The plan to subsidize housing demand followed an earlier announcement Harris wanted to impose government-controlled pricing on grocery stores in order to protect American consumers from grocery store price hikes, as Breitbart News reported.

Harris’s housing proposal, which is designed to ease the progress of young buyers onto the property ladder, has sparked critics to ask: Won’t every home-seller just increase their sale price by $25,000?
Harris will apparently offer details on the plan during a speech in Raleigh, North Carolina, according to campaign officials.

The initiative would only be open to individuals who have consistently paid their rent on time for at least two years as Harris seeks to stop the fall in homeownership the Biden administration has been party to.

“For many Americans, paying rent and other bills makes it nearly impossible to save for a down payment, effectively locking them out of the housing market,” Harris’s campaign said in a statement. “This plan will give them the opportunity to own a home and build wealth.”
The vice president’s office has not yet disclosed the full mechanics of how the $25,000 support will be delivered, though it is anticipated to be a direct grant rather than a tax credit, the Maine Wire reports.

No indication has been given of the exact sum total the government is expecting to disperse in the taxpayer-funded handout or how this will impact inflation.


Everybody even thinking about selling their home will immediately hike their price by $25,000.

The only person that is going to do good with proposal will be the sellers. The buyers will just get a home at the same price they would have before.

And, anyone who pays property tax will have their taxes rise even more because the comparable homes will be selling for $25K more.
