But of course, there actually is high speed rail in more developed countries. If we weren't so busy shooting each other and fighting over a stupid Wall, maybe we could build one, too.

There is no more developed country than the United States.

The ONLY place in the United States where a high-speed rail is economically feasible is in the North East Corridor. That corridor has well over 40 million people which makes the Acela train feasible. No place else in the US has a corridor that highly populated.

No high-speed rail built in recent decades has been economically feasible anywhere in the world. Proven too with numerous studies in Europe, high-speed rails take no traffic, whatsoever, off of adjoining highways running the same routes.

Our country is only four hundred or so years old. Starting from zip, we expanded quickly across three thousand miles of virgin territory. Other than the NE, communities, towns, and cities are spread far and wide making high-speed rail an impossibility. In Japan and Western Europe, they still live in houses constructed before our country built the first one. In addition, Japanese and Western European cities and population centers are located much closer together. They have already built the high-speed rails that make sense and anything built in the past few decades just done pay or make sense.

A rail system that would make sense would be to expand and improve our freight rail systems. Trouble is, that's not glamorous and flashy so the far left turn up their noses.
