House passes far-reaching bill to limit abortions

the under 40 crowd will have eventually to go hundreds of miles to murder their baby because the other crowd( also young, but educated) will simply refuse to perform it.

Unless you want to go to gosnells

And that's not at all correct.

What is happening is that conservative state government are making it near impossible for women to get these services and conservative Christian terrorists are murdering doctors.

Right to life..yeah..right.

It is actually perfectly correct.
A lot of OB/GYN residencies do not even teach how to perform elective abortion anymore

I'm sure that's the case in red states.

Thank God next year there's free BC and abortion numbers will be decimated.
TY, Dems.

OP- This is pure politics, and stupid politics at that...The GOP is begging to get bounced in 2014.

it is correct everywhere.
residencies are usually located in the libtard areas, since teaching hospitals are usually inner-city ones.
The doctors in training ( and the ones who are training)do not want to do them anymore.
Even die-hard liberals - they want somebody else to do that, but not them - the highest level of hypocrisy

Wait what?

You are the one advocating that each and every pregnancy should come to term because each fetus is a fully formed unique person.

That flies in the face of almost all science.

Additionally that wouldn't work out. If a woman does not want the child, that woman will figure a way to get rid of it..regardless of the law. Prior to the legalization of abortion, women were dropping dead left and right because of back alley abortions. It was the leading cause of death for young women.

And what you guys are doing in congress not only doesn't make any sense but it is a waste of time and tax payer money.

This is a settled and non issue. And brought by up by the same folks that have no problem whatsoever with war or the death penalty.

Hopefully 2014 sees a purge of the Radical Theocrats from Congress.

We fought the Taliban in Afghanistan..we don't need a Christian version of one here.

check the "latest science" first, before you make stupid assertions
like this ( if you understand what is written there)
Fetal surgery for repair of myelomeningocel... [Pediatr Surg Int. 2004] - PubMed - NCBI

What?

What do fetal sheep assholes have to do with anything?

You folks are a bit insane.

reading comprehension? or you want a learning to be conducted on a willing human?

there are other links - check them

A supermajority of Americans support abortion bans past 20 weeks. Banning such abortions will actually score points for the GOP.

Knowing this, you can count on the left leaning media outlets to go into double overtime trying to find some Republican dimwit somewhere in the wilds of Missouri or somesuch place to say something really, really, really stupid about abortions. Then they will extrapolate the idiot's comments onto all Republicans.

A tried and true method of the pro-choice media.

But it is a simple fact a supermajority of Americans are not opposed to such legislation. So dream on.

a baby is NOT her body

That's right.

But a fetus during gestation? That's part of her body.

But according to libtards its a fetus until the moment of birth. So I guess its only a matter of seconds to seperate abortion from murder :cuckoo:

I think a majority of people see the dividing line about the time when the Fetus becomes viable, somewhere between 21 and 27 weeks.

Abortion after 20 weeks is already almost dead except by gosnells - a sane OB/GYN will not perform this and a sane anesthesiologist will not provide anesthesia for this and a sane scrub tech and circulator nurse will not assist as well.

And that is how it will become almost extinct altogether - as the frontiers of fetal medicine and intervention move more and more to the earliest stages of life in utero - more and more doctors and nurses do not want to be involved in murder.

Not everyone can live with a dichotomy of saving the life of a baby one day and ruining the life of the baby of the same age the next one.

I think that the GOP should return to doing something productive, like voting for the 35th time to repeal the HCA act...

The benchmark is no longer viability but development of pain receptors. In other words getting torn apart hurts and creating a very painful method of execution should not be legal.

Only about 1.5% of all abortions occur after 20 weeks, and usually to save the life of the mother or due to horrific birth defects.

This law would not make a dent in the number of abortions which occur each year.

Even if a majority of unwanted pregnancies occurred after 20 weeks, for some bizarre reason, this law would just prompt women to get abortions sooner.

This is feel-good legislation of symbolic importance to a particular demographic.

The parents either abort in the womb or the thug will likely get killed anyways.

What would you rather have?

Agree'd. ;)

after 22 weeks to save the mother's life a C-section should be performed, not an abortion.
Horrific birth defects are visible much earlier.
Some of them are being corrected by fetal surgery.

Rofl, and there is so much more to be worried about in this country. You want the government to stay out of women's bodies, but are pleading for them to intervene to help them maintain that control. So, by logic, they would otherwise be incapable of controlling their bodies without the aid of the all-intrusive government.

Your argument is contradictory.

Your response is completely incoherent.

No one is pleading for the government to help women maintain control of their own bodies.

The government should stop passing laws that take over control of a woman's body.

Man, you are an idiot.

House passes far-reaching bill to limit abortions

Forcing a woman to go through with an unwanted pregnancy is the equivalent of rape. It forces her to lose control of her own body.

How does this bill force a woman to go through with a pregnancy?

The above few idiots completely failed to understand my point that a forced pregnancy is the equivalent of rape.

Outlawing abortion past 20 weeks forces a woman to go through with a pregnancy she may not want.

Man, this thread just shows how utterly incapable conservatives are of basic reading comprehension.

Medical science has advanced beyond the law. We now know that at 20 weeks, babies have developed nerve receptors and feel the pain of being ripped apart. That's certainly cruel and unusual punishment since we are supposedly a people that doesn't torture the guilty, much less the innocent.

That's total bull.

There's no scientific consensus that a fetus can feel pain, let alone comprehend it.

An unwanted pregnancy is proof positive that she does NOT have control of her own body.

An abortion is equivalent to murder, but far more despicable, because while most murder victims are at least partially capable of defending themselves, an unborn baby is ayt the mercy at it gallivanting and thrill-seeking "mother". And her partner in crime, the abortion "doctor".

No it isn't. Removing an embryo ifrom a uterus isn't even close to killing a baby, and anybody who thinks that is incapable of logical thought.

Yet you provide no proof of this consensus.
