How can the additional 1400 stimulus fail in the Senate?

Presumably all democrats will vote for it leaving only a handful of Republicans needed for passage right?
Or does unanimous consent also apply in the Senate?
And no, I don't know all the Senate rules so no snyde remarks are needed. I swing a hammer & wrench for a living and have minimal knowledge on the rules.
There is no $2000 stimulus bill pend8ng in congress right now and wont be until after the Thief in Chief takes office
House passed it this morning. Mitch can take it up anytime he wants.
Or, hopefully not
Right. Because screw helping people. Thanks Republicans!

As it always does (Unless we are in a Depression)...but never enough to reduce the deficit.
Tax revenue went up because everyone was allowed to keep more of the money they earned

the budget deficit went up because government spent too much

Help people by ending the stupid lockdowns

then they can help themselves instead of being beggars who depend on government to take care of them

Grampa Murked U since nobody helped you out and walked you through the scenarios today - here's what's going on:

Senate convenes at Noon. Mitch has not said if he approves or disapproves of the new Bill. Several Republicans have stated support, but there's a Caveat.

Bernie Sanders is planning to filibuster the NDAA Veto over-ride UNTIL there's a Vote on the $2k checks...putting Mitch in a pickle because, if the filibuster lasts...the two Georgia Senators up for re-election on Jan 5th will not be able to campaign any more before their Election. This is a huge card Bernie is playing to ensure there's a Vote, or else a big negative consequence.

Next, is the "buzz" about the Republican play: Lindsey weasel, no spine Graham...golfed with Trump this past weekend and concocted a Scheme to attach the Repeal of Section 230 to the Senate version of the $2k checks bill. This would either assist Trump in "getting back at" Twitter, but is bad for free-speech across the board, or, it would force Democrats to Vote down the Senate's version of the bill. It's an obvious grimy move, and you could pretty much bet that they'll try to pull it, or something similar.

The last scenario is that Mitch doesn't care about Sanders' filibuster, and the $2k doesn't even reach a Vote. This would be close to dooming the Ga. Senators' chances of winning re-election because it's a double-whammy - they can no longer campaign - AND - their party shut down the $2k payments that a vast majority of Americans support...and seemingly need.

My guess is that the bill dies by the hand of the Democrats because of the "repeal 230" stipulation, and then the Republicans can play-pretend that the Democrats don't want Americans to have their $2k.

He is a cheap pos, he will probably leave them all his millions.
Hopefully so if greedy libs do not get control of everything and raise the inheritance tax

but I was really thinking of all the other children yet to be born who are getting screwed by these out of control budgets this generation is adopting
Don't worry the biggest deficit happened under tramp.

When Mitch cut taxes and made trillion dollar deficits, there was no compromise.
Tax revenue went up after the tax cut

its spending - the stimulus for instance - that is out of control
Are you under the impression that the revenue wouldn’t have gone up without a tax cut?

There’s somethings you should understand about inflation and population growth.

Tramp? Thank goodness we don't have a president named that. That would be weird. At any rate, Quid Pro will eclipse any deficit posted until now. He can't help himself, he's a democrat.

Why would a filibuster stop Georgia campaigns?

Something about the Senate having to remain in session until the NDAA is resolved. Not sure the exact details, was just passing you the play by play per request. It took 3 fuggin pages for anyone to even attempt to answer you, sad place its all bickering any more.

There has never been a real test of the Laffer curve. Whenever they've cut taxes, they've also increased government spending.

It's simple math to know, if the government spends more, that through income tax of those amounts spent, they will get more tax revenue.

It's like having a capital one card, where you get back 5% of what you spend. You can increase what you get, by just spending more.

Help people by ending the stupid lockdowns
How’s that going to help the thousands that will die?

Or the nurses and doctors already stretched to their breaking point who try to save them?

I guess they don’t count as people?

He's like the guy with the broken leg, but the cast itches. Thinking the simple solution is to just take the cast off.

I do worry because deficit spending is very harmful to our future
Tell that to republicans.

You cannot save people with the lockdowns

.01% of us will die of something in the next year with or without the lockdown and attendant economic damage it causes
