How Conservatism Killed The GOP

Both made government bigger.

Yep, it's just that the Republicans (like Reagan and Bush) made government bigger and didn't pay for it at all.

The Democrats are no angels here either. They've also made government bigger but at least they want to pay for it.

1. If the GOP of today were the GOP of our fathers and grandfathers, all of us would be better off. The GOP of old had great liberals in it's ranks. Most all the great past achievements the GOP crows about today were liberal ideas made policy and law.

2) Over the past 3 or 4 decades the conservatives in the GOP have chased out most every liberal in it's midst. They no longer have a voice representing the people. They have a voice representing the conservative fringe.

3) Today the conservative Tea Party movement is looking to finish the job started in seriousness under the reign of Ronald Reagan, the great communicator who rarely kept a campaign promise.

The GOP is not longer great or grand.

The emboldened is your first mistake. And YOU are no Conservative. Conservatives today are the Classic Liberals as Jefferson...And yes Conservatives have chased OUT the Liberals from the GOP...because they are Statists...Socialists, Marxists, Progressives that cannot get elected any other way but to cloak themselves by being disingenuous about whom they really are.

I think liberalism is actually the culprit and this coming from me. They've moved farther left then the democrats in my honest opinion. Their foreign policy and monetary policy today is that of a far left liberal.

They always say they're going to make government smaller but end up making it bigger.

Ronald Reagan and George W Bush?

Yep, they're not conservatives or they may say they are but they're actions tell us the real story. GWB even more so then Reagan.

Reagan is hailed by most every conservative as a conservative. Bush can get a pass. After 9/11 he was stupid enough to make government bigger through fear.

Reagan? He campaigned on smaller government.

The great liberals of the Grand Old Party were all the Presidents and leaders whose accomplishments you people keep crowing about as reflecting your supposed values: Lincoln, Roosevelt, et al.

Jefferson was an asshole. A lunatic who got worse as he lost the political game. He later grew old and tempered his comments on what he would say when Adams and Chief Justice Marshall drove him further into insanity. Jefferson later walked away from the craziest ideas most of you fools quote.

You got one thing right, I am no conservative. :clap2:

Saying and doing are totally different things now aren't they?

Bush said he wanted to make government smaller too...

They are hailed as conservatives. Even now people are using them to prove (falsely) that cutting taxes increases revenues.

Everything about the GOP today is corrupted by today's brand of conservatism.

Bullshit, auto and soggy.

Your brand conservatism has corrupted a once great party and has almost stripped the wealth of the middle class in the last thirty years. The true Republicans are hoping (1) the Tea Party so disrupt the balance without seriously damaging the alternative of the Democratic Party, and (2) allow the true Republicans to drive the reactionaries and wacks (like you) into a real conservative party.

The 10% of American adults that think like you really do need their own party instead of continuing the corruption of the Republican Party. And as long as we have racist inbreds like bigrebbyrd in the party, the GOP creditability disappears with most decent, moral Americans.

LOL As if you know my views. Are you using a crystal ball? Better still, Are you related to O Donnel?

Better yet, try this, Auto: nobody cares what you think. That's the point.

Yet you had to comment proving yourself the liar. Please continue hack, its amusing.

They do increase revenues. Bush 43 achieved record revenues during his tenure.

care to explain this idiocy you spout?

below is an honest and open account of an article that was part of a back and forth of dueling opinions using different facts...

-----
Did the Bush tax cuts reduce revenue? Of course.

More important, to get back to McConnell’s assertion about the absence of evidence that the tax cuts “actually diminished revenue,” the point is: compared to what? The only logical benchmark is whether the tax cuts diminished revenue compared to what they would have been in the absence of any change, and here the answer is indisputable: the tax cuts did their intended job of returning money to taxpayers. The government took in less than it would have otherwise.

PostPartisan - Did the Bush tax cuts reduce revenue? Of course.

one can of course go with the highly partisan and disingenuous argument here at a right wingnut site: DWYER: Bush tax cuts boosted federal revenue - Washington Times
