How is a 10 year old child ready for marriage ?

I personally beleive people should at least wait until they are in their twenties to get married. That being said, if an sixteen year old gets knocked up by a seventeen year old, should they be allowed to get married?
Well I suppose it can work out for them and they are both past the age of consent. Its more this type of thing that shocked me.

A 14-year-old girl married a 74-year-old man in Alabama, while a 17-year-old wed a 65-year-old groom in Idaho.

This can only happen with the consent of a judge, that cant be right.
Maybe there also should be a law about the maximum age difference.
Why?

My wife is a generation younger than myself, so my opinion is obviously very biased and based on personal experience. However I would like to hear any arguments against people of significantly different ages getting married.

If 2 adults agree to get married, it's their business and they should have the right to do it. That being said, why would an 18 year old marry someone who is 90 years old?

The only problem with significantly different ages is the younger of the two could wind up taking care of an invalid and lose their spouse while they are aging. However if it is two consenting adults, it is up to them to weigh the pluses and minuses.

I have seen people of significantly different ages marry. In fact I know of such a couple today.

A woman who is a beautful and accomplished 25 year old marries a man twice her age. He's 50. He's handsome, successful, active, vibrant. There is no difference in age. She has a hard time keeping up with him. Ten years later they have two rambunctious boys. Mom at 35 is kept hopping. Dad is 60. He's slowing down just a bit. He has a bad back now. The boy's arguing gives him a headache.

At 50 this is a mature woman filled with sexual potency and desire. At 75 her vibrant husband takes laxatives and viagra to keep going.

In ten years this woman is 60, still active, looking at her 85 year old husband in his bathrobe and walker.
