How many democrats actually support flag burning?

As I support free speech, of course I support flag burning.

Fascists will obviously have different opinions.

I would defend a flag-burner. Again, free speech. It's easy to support free speech when it's speech you like. Actual patriots will support speech they don't like. Fascists will try to squash speech they don't like.
No way in hell is flag burning "speech." Is lighting a cigarette "speech?" Is lighting a candle "speech?" The senile SCROTUS says flag burning is "speech.'' Well, I'll tell you what. If a flag burner does it when I am there, it won't be for burning the flag, but I'll kick his ribs in for speaking while I'm talking.

Actually, I don't believe they cited free speech.

They cited freedom of expression. The 1st amendment doesn't say a thing about expression so the Court is making law. I take what's said in the Bill of Rights literally, not semantically. Now I was taught and then I taught as a military instructor that when a flag wasn't flying freely and was detached from it's flagpole or place of display and was in someone's hands it ceased being a sacred symbol and was to be regarded as just an inanimate object. So if someone puts lighter fluid on it and sets it afire, I could care less because they are burning a piece of cloth. They don't know or understand this, they only know that they think it's pissing me off by showing their contempt and hatred for the country. I only feel contempt and pity for their sorry ass. And so, if he thinks burning the flag is free speech, and I try to explain my view, if he sets fire to it while I'm talking then he will feel the boot. That's my view.

And you'll be arrested, he won't.

For what? Stepping in dog shit?

"How many Democrats support flag burning?"

The real question is how many support America and how many are extreme hard leftist socialist/communists that have propagated themselves since they came here after WWII.

The DNC Convention.

Activists got the city to take down the Mississippi flag. #DNCinPHL #OccupyDNC

But they burn and we bend over to take ours down when they complain.

Enough going along to get along.

Civil rights are easy to support when you're not offended by the right being exercised. The test comes when someone claims a right to do something you find extremely offensive.

There is a HUGE difference between supporting the burning of the flag, and supporting the right to burn the flag.

I served on active duty for more than 20 years. Let me tell you, I get VERY pissed when I see someone burning the flag.

But you know what pisses me off even more? Seeing someone trying to outlaw the First Amendment.

FLAG DISPOSAL:
1. The flag should be folded in its customary manner.
2. It is important that the fire be fairly large and of sufficient intensity to ensure complete burning of the flag.
3. Place the flag on the fire.
4. The individual(s) can come to attention, salute the flag, recite the Pledge of Allegiance and have a brief period of silent reflection.
5. After the flag is completely consumed, the fire should then be safely extinguished and the ashes buried.
6. Please make sure you are conforming to local/state fire codes or ordinances.

I hold them a step above the scum who proudly wave a confederate rag. Don't have much stomach for either though.
Definitely ABOVE the confederate flag-waving scum.

Don't have a problem w/flag-burning as a sign of disgust and protest.

Thank God for free speech!

Thank God (are you allowed to mention God?) that we have the right to burn the mexican flag. I plan on doing it very soon in front of some liberal PC center. And thank God we have the right to burn crosses. We can burn crosses in front of some black guy's house? I'm not sure but I think that is considered a hate crime.

I would like to know how many of you would actually join an invitation to burn the American flag. You are right that people can express their negative views of this country by doing such an act but would you yourself do it. I myself support the right for people like David Duke to say whatever he wants but if he asked me to join him I would say no. This is my point. Would you actually do such an act or would any of your fellow democratic service men do it as well?

I am not a Democrat, so I do not know the answer to your question.

As for myself, I would rather set myself on fire before I would set a flag on fire.

Democrats love free speech....
Specially when they are shitting on or burning the American flag...
But when a little boy has an American flag on his bike
and he shows up with it at school the Libs scream bloody murder and send him home after
suspending him from school....

Or the homeowners association who makes folks take down their flag.....

Yup
Freedom of speech and or expression....
As long as it's a Mexican flag proudly displayed.....

As a red blooded American...I object to anyone burning our beloved flag and symbol of freedom. But...I implore you to make one into a thong to hold your smelly junk or a bandana to absorb your wretched greasy hair sweat.

You can burn a cross on YOUR property, retard.

I wouldn't burn a flag and I'm no fan of people doing so but it is protected speech and should not be stopped. They are saying loud and clear 'something is wrong here'. Better it said with a marshmallow roast than with an AR-15.

I've always wondered though, what would be people's reaction to burning a US flag but with say green and white stripes instead of red and white. It would look the same, but would it be the American flag? Or with 4 point white stars in the blue field rather than the 5 point stars. Or 12 stripes rather than 13.

In the end burning a multi-colored cloth neither picks my pocket nor breaks my arm. Bonzai Thomas Jefferson!

I know not every single democrat in the world support flag burning because there are a lot of democrats who have fought for this country because not every soldier that has ever served the armed forces of America are republicans. I just want to know how many of you are OK with the assholes who sit outside the republican national convention to burn the American flag?

I would never approve of it. But if someone has their own flag they paid for with their own money........

Easy solution....fireproof flags. Voila'

We should be burning the rainbow flag, Mexican flag, black power flag and the rag of palestine.

But, it was enjoyable to see the man who burned the flag catch himself on fire.
As long as you buy the rainbow flag, the Mexican flag, the black power flag, and the "rag of palestine" with your own money.....knock yourself out, Zippo.

Ironically, in the 60s, it was considered disrespectful to have clothing with the appearance of the American flag....now it's considered quite patriotic.

Will you be stealing that Mexican flag first? Or will you actually buy one?

If its not your property you are burning a cross on and you do not have a permit to light a fire where it is restricted by permitting it would be illegal. That same theory applies to burning a flag where people could get hurt.
