IRS, Benghazi, NSA, huge examples of corruption....yet, what will the fate of these stories? Carried forward, like Watergate?
Given 47 front page marquees like Abu Gharaib"
Probably not: hidden.....or fade away.

With a firm hand on the reins of the media, Liberals have been able to smother jaw-dropping scandals in the past...
....and spotlight imaginary ones: "Harry Reid: Mitt Romney didn’t pay taxes for 10 years" Harry Reid: Mitt Romney didn?t pay taxes for 10 years - 2chambers - The Washington Post

1. That was then:
"...."Climategate" to describe the scandal revealed by the leaked emails from the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit, .... total shock and dismay at the picture revealed by the documents is that their authors are not just any old bunch of academics. Their importance cannot be overestimated, What we are looking at here is the small group of scientists who have for years been more influential in driving the worldwide alarm over global warming than any others, not least through the role they play at the heart of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

2. Professor Philip Jones, the CRU's director, is in charge of the two key sets of data used by the IPCC to draw up its reports.... his global temperature record is the most important of the four sets of temperature data on which the IPCC and governments rely – not least for their predictions that the world will warm to catastrophic levels unless trillions of dollars are spent to avert it.

3. .... the closely knit group of American and British scientists responsible for promoting that picture of world temperatures conveyed by Michael Mann's "hockey stick" graph which 10 years ago turned climate history on its head by showing that, after 1,000 years of decline, global temperatures have recently shot up to their highest level in recorded history." Climate change: this is the worst scientific scandal of our generation - Telegraph

What happened to the story?

4. And now:
"In April 2010, the Attorney General of Virginia, Kenneth Cuccinelli, served a civil subpoena on the University of Virginia (UVA). The subpoena demanded emails and a variety of other materials and documents relating to Michael Mann, a climate scientist who was a faculty member at UVA until 2005, when he left for Pennsylvania State University. Professor Mann was one of the scientists involved in “Climategate,” Rector & Visitors of the Univ. of Va. v. Cuccinelli, 80 Va. Cir. 657 (Va. Cir. Ct. 2010); aff?d, sub nom. Cuccinelli v. Rector & Visitors of the Univ. of Va., 2012 Va. LEXIS 47 (Va. Mar. 2, 2012) | AAUP

5. The University of Virginia, "known as one of the finest academic institution, and one that takes particular pride in its honor code for students, underpinned by principles of trust and self-policing coupled with strict demands for integrity....[yet] the university extended the depths to which it would burrow to keep secret a cache of taxpayer-funded documents that would shed light on 'the worst scientific scandal of our generation.'"
Horner, "The Liberal War on Transparency," p. 14-15.

6. The "Climategate" emails showed a deliberate and organized effort at the highest levels of taxpayer-funded academia and research institutions to promote a supposed scientific basis for Michal Mann, working at UVA from 1999 to 2005, what is called "the cause" in the emails.

a. Email #0810 from Michael Mann: "0810 Mann: I gave up on Judith Curry a while ago. I don’t know what she think’s she’s doing, but its not helping the cause

1577: Jones: [FOI, temperature data] Any work we have done in the past
is done on the back of the research grants we get - and has to be well
hidden. I
've discussed this with the main funder (US Dept of Energy) in
the past and they are happy about not releasing the original station
data.

???? Jones: I’ve been told that IPCC is above national FOI [Freedom of Information] Acts. One way to cover yourself and all those working in AR5 would be to delete all
emails
at the end of the process

3755: “It is really important that you don’t just copy or reproduce any
bits because it is not my proposal and it would be a court case in
theory if a similarity was noticed.” “but for GODS SAKE please respect
the sensitivity here and destroy the file immediately when finished and
please do not tell ANYBODY I sent this. Cheers Keith” ."

2495 Humphrey/DEFRA: I can't overstate the HUGE amount of political
interest in the project
as a message that the Government can give on
climate change to help them tell their story. They want the story to be
a very strong one
and don't want to be made to look foolish.
Climategate?Again? | Mother Jones

What story could be bigger??? More significant???
This is what the Left's control of the media can accomplish.

7. The "cause" that Mann refers to is the imposition of an agenda of spending, prohibition, and regulation embraced and demanded by a broad coalition of "global governance" proponents, and government and academic and scientific institutions.

Under the guise of remedying some "global warming crisis," it is nothing more than the latest scam to market a utopian agenda of control, wealth transfers, and artificial scarcity sold as liberty, equality and plenty.
Horner, Op. Cit.

What's the old saying about raising mushrooms?
Keep 'em in the dark and feed 'em manure.

Seems the Left uses the same system on the electorate.

What does this suggest will happen to the NSA scandal......

the NSA scandal.., actually a criminal action will be dismissed as a "hiccup" and smoothed over by the liarberal media, if we had a republican senate it might be different. i see it as a third grade fight..., no one wins.

America loses and BIG. Freedom and liberty are a thing of the past. While the two factions war of over crumbs, the American economy is in collapse and we are dangerously on the slopes of tyranny.

PC, I'm just on my way out, but I want to respond to this thread so I can read it when I get back. Your threads are generally pretty elegant so I don't want to miss this one.

You know the inmates have thrown in the towel when they start blaming the media for the reason things aren't going their way.

When it comes to Obama, you accept all with equanimity, unquestioned, and with nary a quibble.

And, when the noose becomes too tight, without diffidence, you leap to the role of apologist.

Allow me to address you properly: is it sycophant, or lap-dog?

From your first post:

This is what the Left's control of the media can accomplish.

Exactly. Bu..bu..bu.. it's all a vast right wing conspiracy!

You could jump off the deep end and go for 'ass kisser.'

Why wasn't Bush prosecuted for the crimes committed at Abu Ghraib?

Why hasn't Obama been prosecuted for ordering the assassination of American citizens without due process?

I'm sorry as I can be but in my corner of the universe assassinations of American citizens by drone trump water boarding or leashes on a prisoner.

OP- after years of getting their news from Sean Rushbeck, the dupes are absolutely clueless lol. The U. of East Anglia is a pimple on the ass of global warming, and these "scandals" AREN'T. Remain calm. And change the GD channel.

what fucking crimes, throwing water balloons is not a crime .........., YET !!!!

When he was finally sent back to his cell, though, the guards were instructed only to chain the prisoner back to the ceiling.

"Leave him up," one of the guards quoted Specialist Claus as saying.

Several hours passed before an emergency room doctor finally saw Mr. Dilawar. By then he was dead, his body beginning to stiffen. It would be many months before Army investigators learned a final horrific detail: Most of the interrogators had believed Mr. Dilawar was an innocent man who simply drove his taxi past the American base at the wrong time.

The story of Mr. Dilawar's brutal death at the Bagram Collection Point - and that of another detainee, Habibullah, who died there six days earlier in December 2002 - emerge from a nearly 2,000-page confidential file of the Army's criminal investigation into the case, a copy of which was obtained by The New York Times.

Like a narrative counterpart to the digital images from Abu Ghraib, the Bagram file depicts young, poorly trained soldiers in repeated incidents of abuse. The harsh treatment, which has resulted in criminal charges against seven soldiers, went well beyond the two deaths

That's funny....I was just thinking that you were elegantly ass kissing PC, here. You wouldn't want to miss this one! Sooooo elegant!

1. The government claims there's a crisis which requires restricting private property rights, and onerous regulations....and, of course, global governance.

2. Academics and scientists take beau coup bucks to fabricate 'data' proving the scam.

3. The East Anglia emails reveal that data is falsified, and real data hidden.

4. Universities refuse to make public emails that would prove the case one way or the other.

And the stupidest poster to date claims " these "scandals" AREN'T."

Heck, lets add dishonest to your resume.
