Actually, Bill Nelson was the first to exploit the tragedy.

He did it in a interview with Shepard Smith. 'Course he's
on shaky ground here in Florida. So he'll attempt anything
if he plans on running again...or he may retire.

The real issue to complain about is one I thought they had
solved. How long does it take before Police enter that school?

Their were two officers on duty at the school. They should have
immediately gone and engaged the shooter.
