The dems problem has been since 2020 that Biden was the nominee because he promised Sanders he'd sign whatever the progs could pass. they passed inflation. Imho, Wall Street Dems made it clear in 2020 they would bite the bullet and back Trump if their party nominated Bernie. Michael Bloomberg was likely their preferred choice, but Biden had the machine:
