“I may not agree with what you say, but I’ll defend to my dying day your right to say it”

When have we recently heard anyone in power or in media and among the elite say those words? Rather a quaint idea in the current environment. It even sounds a bit subversive in an era of visceral hatred for free speech. We now have government, media, and tech colluding to silence free speech. How long before hate speech and thought crimes will result in long prison sentences? Will the American people continue allowing the destruction of their right to free speech?
WE. LOSE the value of free speech, WHEN speech is filled with LIES that's only there to promote party politics/ propaganda
And NOT in search of TRUTH.

Unfortunately lies that benefit the establishment are never silenced. Telling the truth that exposes the establishment for the harms they’ve committed is silenced.

Seems the company would have mentioned they were being forced to do something they didn't want to do.
It's called COLLUSION, you remember that word, don't you? The government was colluding with a major media company to influence the election, they put 'Russia' to shame.

The moment you can give me examples of that I'll listen. The government has a right to speak to a private company about what they should post. They can not demand that the company complies. I've seen no evidence that they did.

Why do they have a 'right' to collude to influence an election? How was what they were doing any different than Russia? And why would they ask any private company to restrict speech to their liking?

Can you give an example?

Lots of reasons. Maybe the speech is considered against public interest. Anti-vax during a global pandemic would be an example. They could ASK not demand to remove that. Maybe the government would come across posts against the companies own terms of service. And sometimes the speech is against federal law. Child pornography would be an example.

The government has a right to free speech too. So, they can petition a company just like a private citizen can. They also have the duty to enforce the law. Sometimes that means restricting speech.

it's their country and you aren't allowed to disagree with them one iota fella!

Bet you haven't followed along, when anyone disagrees with them they get indicted and accused of lying. Seriously.

Who cares what you say? Not I.

As far as I am concerned I will say what I want to say when I want to say it no matter what may come from it and I don't need anyone's permission or support.
until your ass is in prison because you lost the right. That's what this is about. Trump's being indicted today for using free speech. Fk, the prosecution even agrees he had the right to say it, but too fking bad, they don't agree with what he did so orangemanbad needs to go to jail. That's the current OP.

What people do is the basis for all our laws. You don't get that?

A handful of multinational conglomerates own 95% of the media and news outlets in this country why would you think that all that money and all that control precludes the manipulation of the public with false narratives and bullshit reporting all designed to gin up the people ?

here's a good one about how they lie

Unfortunately many cons are incapable of distinguishing leftism from liberalism. They’ve been conditioned to think both are exactly the same and to hate both.
what's the difference between leftist and liberalism?

My opinion is leftists oppose war and authoritarian government, along with supporting an unlimited right to free speech. Liberals oppose all these things.
