If more Moderate Muslims would condemn the radicals..

most of America would not have such a bad outlook on them.

Dear Loverbears: I could envision a team of Jews/Christians/Muslims joining in support around the Uncle, and what he said in his admonishment about asking for forgiveness and understanding the responsibilty, and trying to help the family come to terms with this in unison. Not only could the surviving son, but any other rebels and conspirators out there, could be called to come forward and work on restitution to rebuild the countries suffering the ravages of war and terrorist attacks, and stop oppression in constructive ways for greater impact and public attention and support, not resorting to destructive acts that we need to quit rewarding with attention. We need to reward those who are correcting problems creatively and constructively, and give airtime and support to them instead of only focusing on the bullies using violence to get attention.

As for Muslims and Islam in general,
there should be an agreement on how Islam teaches Christianity and Bible scripture as part of the faith instead of disagreeing with other Christians and Muslims on the
issue of retribution and justified killing/war, etc.
this needs to be resolved, not only for Muslims but also Jewish and Christian in countries still fighting wars.

and also on democratic principles put forth by Mohammad
that align with Constitutional principles. If these laws can be agreed upon as "sent by God"
then more Muslims can align with Constitutionalists and not seen as a threat
especially with the Shariah scare going on that is yet to be resolved.

In general, ANY religious organization or corporation ought to be
checked the same way as government for respecting due
process, right to petition and equal protection of individuals
to prevent "collective" authority/resources/influence from
being abused at the expense of individual rights and protection of citizens.

So whatever Constitutional agreement on policy that
would solve this problem with fear of abuses or threats,
would solve the same going on with other cases of abuse by large groups, religions or corporations. Not just with Islam, but with anything, from Wal-Mart and big bank bailouts, to complaints of abuse coverups by Catholic Church, LDS, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc.

If we don't target just one group, but target the root cause as collective organizations that don't have adequate system of checks and balances or due process to address abuses,
then we can solve a lot of problems together instead of fighting over who is being profiled.

Actually I believe most Americans do view Muslims and Islam in a positive light but yes a stronger rebuke of these acts of terrorism by mainstream Muslims does seem appropriate.
