I'm your opinion, based on modern times, what is the technical differences between a republican and a leftist? Is it based on policy or tribalism?

Early on in life I was kind of a liberal in my thinking. My Mom was a huge JFK supporter, and my teachings in life were largely from a liberal point of view...Nothing wrong with that if we are talking traditional libs...As I grew up, had a family of my own, and realized that no one "owed me anything", and the election of Reagan, as I started to pull myself up by my own bootstraps so to speak, I realized that Conservatism was really the party of freedom, and liberalism were largely people who never grew up...

In today's world it's even worse, liberals have allowed themselves to be swayed by kind of a fascistic socialistic view of how things should be, and it will destroy this great country if you ask me.
I grew up in rural Alabama and eventually came to see conservatism for poor people was an ideological trap. My relatives are still there toiling away, barely getting by and blaming everyone except their politicians and their bosses for why their lives suck.

Blaming others for their problems is, in my experience, generally a liberal charicteristic...Conservatism is generally a self reliant ideology. Personal responsibility is a big part of that.

I know lots of poor people in rural areas…they tend to choose quality of life over GDP. They would rather fish the river bank instead of sit in 2 hours of traffic with illegals on the 405.
Yesterday you hated greedy rich capitalists and sought to fight for the poor…today you hate the poor and champion inequalities?

Do the majority of people vote based on party or character? What specific policies turned you on to one, and what policies turned you off from another?

Conservatives vote for policies....for the good ones, against to stop the bad ones...

Trump wasn't the candidate because people wanted him....first, they wanted to stop the democrats, and second, after he began enacting conservative policies, they voted for him because he was enacting conservative policies.

I originally supported Ted Cruz, he lost....I reluctantly voted for Trump because the democrat party is evil.......they are totalitarian and hate this country.

After he won the office, appointed conservative judges, cut taxes, told NATO to actually pay their dues, stood up to Russia and China, he had the economy booming, he had employment rates for women, blacks and hispanics going sky high..........I began to support him happily.

The democrat are still evil and anti-American, their polices are destructive.....

In the 8 months biden and his controllers from the democrat have been in charge, they have trashed the country.......and made our enemies stronger and more aggressive.....

A poor conservative is expected to bear their poverty in silence.

Um no....but they do bear the personal responsibility to find the programs, do the things, or look for other jobs that will improve their situations...This is the land of opprotunity, no one is "stuck" in any particuar employer....

In Alabama at least one has to move out to find prosperity. I suspect it is a a similar situation in the other conservative utopias.

Most Democrats seem to think the government exists to bully people who disagree with them. Whereas, most Republicans think government exists to bully people who disagree with them.

By and large, the left of today occupies the same political territory as the most fiercely dogmatic bible-thumping religious fundamentalists on the right.

They don't know WHY they hold the views they do. They insist their views are the only ones that should be allowed. They accept without questioning and they are arbitrary, illogical, and superstitious.

The only thing they DO know is what they are expected to say and they spend an inordinant amount of time saying it so that their fellow fundamentalists will reward them with praise for their utter lack of individuality.

Like CA with their homeless? Look at the urban plantation shooting galleries, like Chicago.
People are leaving your "blue run states and cities" for the safer red ones.
Look at who is gaining congressional districts.

Both are parties of big government.

The differences are really minimal.

Whenever the Democrats do damage to the US they are usually helped by Republicans to some degree or another. For instance, when that filthy ass Obamacare bill was passed along party lines on floor votes it was pushed through the cloture process in the Senate with the help of three Republican dingbats.

Every damn Democrat sponsered tax increase we have got was with the support of at least some Republicans. Republicans have even come up with a few of their own.

Republicans are always better than Democrats but at the end of the day that doesn't mean much when the Democrats set such a low bar. 1000 times zero still pretty much equals zero, doesn't it?

I was with you - even considering a "like" - up until this. This is why we lose.
