Indiana House passes "religious freedom" bill

This could get Indiana a requirement to install footbaths for Muslims in every state building in the state.

:trolls:

Prove that it couldn't. It's hilarious that you think a religious 'freedom' bill would only apply to Christians. It would pave the way for pork products to have to be removed from employee lunchrooms as a religious accommodation. Or that places that ring church bells also do a Muslim call to prayer.
:disagree:

Why do you disagree? How would it not apply to all religions?

Your cohort (as usual) is trying to create a straw man. The bill is designed to protect business owners.

And not all business owners are your brand of christian.

Your cohort (as usual) is trying to create a straw man. The bill is designed to protect business owners.

"Prohibits a governmental entity from substantially burdening a person's exercise of religion, even if the burden results from a rule of general applicability, unless the governmental entity can demonstrate that the burden: (1) is in furtherance of a compelling governmental interest; and (2) is the least restrictive means of furthering the compelling governmental interest."

A Muslim employee whose religious practice includes washing before prayer is substantially burdened in the exercise of that religion if his employer does not provide an appropriate facility for such an exercise.

THAT is what this law would do.

Well then you're remarkably precocious in your mastery of being an old bitch. How about you address the issue, YOUR issue, with some substance?

You're just a nasty little asshole when you get spanked, eh? You were too stupid to realize the bill was to protect business owners and when it was pointed out you went all dumbass liberal over your own stupidity. Now beat it old timer and next time come prepared...or at least read the article. Dumbass

I quoted the bill verbatim. You should have read it before you posted.

A person's leased premises are not the public arena.

Do you know where this comes from ""Places of public accommodation, resort or amusement" includes any place, store or other establishment, either licensed or unlicensed, that supplies goods or services to the general public or that solicits or accepts the patronage or trade of the general public, or that is supported directly or indirectly by government funds..."?

It could be Heart of Atlanta. Frankly I dont care. People have property rights as well as rights of association.

Actually it's your state law passed by the TN legislature.

>>>>
Thankls.
What was your point?

The disconnect of what you claim and what the law actually says, in this case the law from your own state.

>>>>
No disconnect.
Next.

As long as they put a prominent sign up by the front door and by the service counter.....go right ahead.

That amendment failed and isn't part of the bill.

>>>>
Of course it isn't. Why warn people of the fact they're going to be refused service and kicked out. They get much angrier that way, and maybe start shooting or burning buildings down. We wouldn't want to lose out on the fun eh?

Looks like Gov. Pence is officially giving up on any presidential aspirations. There's no way a governor who signed off on something that awful can win a nationwide presidential election.

It's also possible that Pence can't figure that out. Our governor is essentially the second coming of Dan Quayle. A pretty face, not very bright, just gets by with repeating the right platitudes. Which was an improvement over our previous gov., the more actively malevolent Mitch Daniels. You know, the former Bush budget director, and the man most responsible for the current budget deficit.
