Is It Okay To Face The Truth About Ebola Yet?

Every virus has the potential to mutate and this one is certainly capable of mutating into an airborne transmission virus. The probabilities depend on the number of people infected and since that number is rising rapidly in Africa the possibility is present that this nightmare scenario could erupt upon on the world. The health agencies are playing the "keep the public calm" game. They do not want to start a panic and right now there is nothing to panic about. But if things continue to go as they are in Africa now that may change.

And a person who recover from Ebola can still carry the virus for 7 weeks.

It's one thing to do your best to limit panic.

It's another to outright lie, and cover up...which puts people at risk. And the CDC outright lies.

Yes there is, you retard. The UN Ebola chief is saying it:

"The longer the Ebola epidemic continues infecting people unabated, the higher the chances it will mutate and become airborne, the UN's Ebola response chief has warned.

"He said: 'The longer it moves around in human hosts in the virulent melting pot that is West Africa, the more chances increase that it could mutate."

"Michael Osterholm, the director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, said experts are loathe to discuss their concerns in public, for fear of whipping up hysteria.
Discussing the possible future course of the current outbreak, he warned: 'The second possibility is one that virologists are loath to discuss openly but are definitely considering in private: that an Ebola virus could mutate to become transmissible through the air.'

"Dr Osterholm warned viruses similar to Ebola are notorious for replicating and reinventing themselves.

WHO says ebola patients can remain infectious for 7 weeks:

"People remain infectious as long as their blood and body fluids, including semen and breast milk, contain the virus. Men who have recovered from the disease can still transmit the virus through their semen for up to 7 weeks after recovery from illness."

WHO Ebola virus disease

Transmission Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever CDC
Because the natural reservoir host of Ebola viruses has not yet been identified, the manner in which the virus first appears in a human at the start of an outbreak is unknown. However, researchers believe that the first patient becomes infected through contact with an infected animal.

When an infection does occur in humans, the virus can be spread in several ways to others. Ebola is spread through direct contact (through broken skin or mucous membranes) with

  • blood or body fluids (including but not limited to urine, saliva, feces, vomit, and semen) of a person who is sick with Ebola
  • objects (like needles and syringes) that have been contaminated with the virus
  • infected animals
  • Ebola is not spread through the air or by water, or in general, food. However, in Africa, Ebola may be spread as a result of handling bushmeat (wild animals hunted for food) and contact with infected bats.
Healthcare providers caring for Ebola patients and the family and friends in close contact with Ebola patients are at the highest risk of getting sick because they may come in contact with infected blood or body fluids of sick patients.

Transmission
It is thought that fruit bats of the Pteropodidae family are natural Ebola virus hosts. Ebola is introduced into the human population through close contact with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected animals such as chimpanzees, gorillas, fruit bats, monkeys, forest antelope and porcupines found ill or dead or in the rainforest.

Ebola then spreads through human-to-human transmission via direct contact (through broken skin or mucous membranes) with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected people, and with surfaces and materials (e.g. bedding, clothing) contaminated with these fluids.

Health-care workers have frequently been infected while treating patients with suspected or confirmed EVD. This has occurred through close contact with patients when infection control precautions are not strictly practiced.

Burial ceremonies in which mourners have direct contact with the body of the deceased person can also play a role in the transmission of Ebola.

People remain infectious as long as their blood and body fluids, including semen and breast milk, contain the virus. Men who have recovered from the disease can still transmit the virus through their semen for up to 7 weeks after recovery from illness.

Ebola Virus How Contagious
While Ebola and HIV have a similar reproductive number, they are different in many ways, Duchin says. "HIV and Ebola both are present in the blood, but the ways they infect cells, where they live in the body, are very different."

Compared to the airborne organisms spread by casual contact, "it takes effort to get infected with both of these viruses [HIV and Ebola]," Adalja says.

Any and all knowledge and discussion on ebola conclude that physical body contact is required to transmit the disease from person to person.

Other than a few conspiracy theories, the real science shows that exchange of body fluid is required to catch ebola. There is simply no other way around that fact.

UNTIL the virus actually mutates into something that is airborne, panicking over an isolated case of ebola in Texas accomplishes nothing.

This strain of ebola has been known to infect cross-species, with no physical body contact.

Nice try.

"
The researchers demonstrated transmission of the Zaire strain of Ebola from pigs to macaques without direct contact between them.Pigs inoculated with the Ebola virus were kept physically separated but in close proximity to the monkeys, all of which contracted the illness"

I posted nothing but facts. It isn't a try, as facts speak for themselves.

I'll go with the science as we have ZERO proof that the ebola in Texas is anything other than the kind described and is only transmittable via body contact.

Go ahead and panic if you must. I'll not lose any sleep over it.

Actually, you didn't post any facts at all. You posted platitudes and bad information, and labeled it as "science".

Yuck.

And the ebola that the guy in Texas, the ebola that is being spread in Liberia and across the world..is the same strain as the kind that jumped from monkey, to pig...with no physical contact.

Ebola virus 'could become airborne' in 'nightmare' scenario, warns UN

The South Wales Evening Post ^

THE nightmare scenario that the ebola virus could become airborne has been raised by the UN. Authorities in Wales are already on alert for the symptoms of Ebola. But with the disease spread only through bodily fluids like blood, currently, and it being almost entirely contained within Africa, the chances of an outbreak here have been low. But that could change if the virus mutated to be able to be carried through the air, like the flu and the common cold. It could also have devastating consequences in Africa where the outbreak is on a large scale already. The United...

"....a sneeze or cough could spread the virus from someone experiencing Ebola symptoms.

Officials had previously downplayed this possibility, focusing on direct contact with bodily fluids.

"There are certainly theoretical situations where someone sneezes … and you touch your eyes or mouth or nose," and catch the virus from any transmitted particles, he said."

What?

No accusation about refugee kids?

:wtf:

How many of Obozo's blunders do I need to mention? It's not as if we don't all know he's allowed anybody who wants to sneak in, full amnesty. 8M illegals, Hezbolla, probably a major al-Qaida cell.....surely an ISIL team or two....and of course all the lice, bedbugs, whooping cough, TB, polio, and unknown parasites and vermin. We knew Janet Napolitano well here in Arizona.....she was about to be ridden out of town on a rail when she fled to Barry's side and stopped the completion of Bush's fence. Once Janet had the fence left open, she instructed her union goons to start fondling airline passengers. The only reason she's gone is that her greasy fingerprints were all over "fast and furious" same as Holders.

"United Airlines said the two planes that carried the Ebola patient Sept. 20 "remained overnight for a thorough cleaning including cleaning of lavatories and galleys with heavy-duty, all-purpose cleaners and wiping tray tables and armrests with disinfectant," according to a statement.

"Medical studies say germs can live on plastic surfaces, such as tray tables and lavatory door handles, for as long as 72 hours."

Actually, Napolitano balanced AZ's budget and left a surplus. She also begged McCain and Kyl for help with illegals but they refused it - except when they were campaigning. And, she had nothing to do with Bush's Operation Wide Receiver.

Funny that you say TSA "fondles passengers" while all you knee jerk RWs are demanding they increase security. Make up your mind.

It's one thing to do your best to limit panic.

It's another to outright lie, and cover up...which puts people at risk. And the CDC outright lies.
The Liberian government did its job, when the guy in the news left Liberia he had no symptoms of the disease. But the US government made a whole series of blunders that put public health at risk, so those responsible like the CDC want a cover up - rather than admit they failed the American people.

1) The US govt gave a visa to a guy that by their own policy shouldn't be admitted into the US.
2) The US govt failed to screen plane passengers from Ebola infected counties.
3) The US govt failed to ask the infected man when he got off the plane, whether he had been near areas or people with the disease.
4) The US govt failed to monitor the health of the man (knowing he came from Liberia), and barely even bothered about the guy till he was infectious to others.
5) The CDC failed to provide any information about the disease to nearby residents, after they knew an infected man had spread the disease in the area.

The government officals are looking to keep their jobs, and don't give a damn about the people who are now infected, as a result of their incompetence. If they really cared they would resign, but I bet they are going to try and push all the blame on the hospital.

Or is the CDC still working overtime to lie to the public about it?

"In 2012, Canadian researchers found the virus could be passed via the respiratory system between pigs and monkeys - both of which have similar lungs to humans.
"It was the same virus as that which is responsible for the current death toll in West Africa."

"The longer the Ebola epidemic continues infecting people unabated the higher the chances it will mutate and become airborne, the UN's Ebola response chief has warned.

:Anthony Banbury, the Secretary General's Special Representative, has said there is a 'nightmare' prospect the deadly disease will become airborne if it continues infecting new hosts.

"His comments come as organisations battling the crisis in West Africa warn that the international community has just four weeks to stop it before it spirals 'completely out of control'."

"...aid workers were fighting a race against time amid fears it will begin to mutate.
He said: 'The longer it moves around in human hosts in the virulent melting pot that is West Africa, the more chances increase that it could mutate."

"Michael Osterholm, the director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, said experts are loathe to discuss their concerns in public, for fear of whipping up hysteria. "

Ebola is not suddenly an airborne disease. As expert commentators at ProMED stated, the experiments “demonstrate the susceptibility of pigs to Zaire Ebolavirus and that the virus from infected pigs can be transmitted to macaques under experimental conditions.

As one researcher said, "If Ebola was spread through the air, we would be looking at over a million cases in a 100 countries not 7,000 in 6 countries.

If I were you people, I would be worried about the real epidemic that is going on right now. There is a respiratory illness going on in this country that is killing our children. This is a real epidemic and a real danger.

Since the virus can't be spread until it has incubated and symptoms appear, cleaning the plane is irrelevant. He flew on Sept 20th and did not develop symptoms till the 24th.
