First of all, one might consider that the U.S. Census Bureau defines a "black" as a person having origins in any of the black (sub-Saharan) racial groups of Africa. It includes basically anyone who indicates their race as "Black," "African American," or "Negro," on their census forms, or who provide written entries such as "Afro-American," "Kenyan," "Nigerian," or "Haitian." The Census Bureau notes that these classifications are socio-political constructs and should not be interpreted as scientific or anthropological.
So without any indication of a percentage of "black" ancestry, the "legal" definition of Black might be said to be somewhat one of self-identification. On the one extreme, if I have ANY black sub-Saharan ancestry I can claim to be "black," and at least the U.S. Census bureau won't call me a liar. On the other hand, if I can "pass," and I identify myself as "white" (or Caucasian), that's also OK with the USCB.
White racists have always taken the position that if one had "even a drop of" black, sub-Saharan blood, then that person is a "Negro" (or another more colorful synonym for that group).
So from the Government's viewpoint and that of essentially all white people, Our Beloved President is definitely, "black."
But there is another viewpoint, originating in the Black Community itself - one that was figuratively shouted down during the 2008 Presidential Primaries - that I think deserves some serious consideration.
OBP is not the descendant of slaves. He never lived in a "black" neighborhood until he chose to do so as an adult. He never experienced significant poverty (other than as a "poor" college student). His entire family background is lilly white, since his father absquatulated before Barry had any awareness of him. He only speaks with a black patois when he chooses to do so (and he doesn't do it very convincingly), and only plays basketball (badly) to "prove" he is "truly black."
His experience of "racism" as a child (in Hawaii and Indonesia) was no more than any other kid might experience for being short, ugly, fat, or having freckles.
It is clear to any objective observer that virtually all of the ramifications of "blackness" that impacted his young life were positive and beneficial. Far from having been a victim of racism, he has been its great beneficiary.
He certainly lacked the grades to get into Columbia (hence, his academic records have never been released), and it was only through "affirmative action" that he was admitted, and apprently was given a scholarship. And it is clear to anyone with an open mind that he only got into Harvard Law School because he indicated that he was Kenyan on the application - which again explains the refusal to turn over any records. And he certainly didn't become Editor of the Harvard Law Review based on his academic performance - he was obviously treated as a popular "mascot" by the other students because he was perceived as an Oreo by the other law students and faculty.
He dated mainly white girls in college and law school, and it is not too far fetched to believe that he chose his troll of a wife because to marry a white woman would have hurt his political future as a mandarin in the Chicago ghetto.
It goes without saying that if he had not been "black," he could never have even run for President in 2008; he had no executive experience whatsoever, and no noteworthy accomplishments in any elective office. A white candidate with the same resume would have been laughed out of the debates. And he won the election largely due to "white guilt" and lock-step support by "minorities" and the socialist hordes.
If I were African American myself, I would consider this person a total fraud. He is about as "black" as the characters played by Sidney Poitier in his heyday - a fabulous white guy who just happened to have dark skin and kinky hair.
I would probably vote for him anyway, but not because he is "black." Because he isn't.
