Is the GOP intentionally preventing a recovery?

Yet it doesn't seem to bother you at all that you know very little but spout off endlessly as though you did know a great deal.

Examples LIEability would make your post credible. It's you and your kind who speak in absolutes with know-it-all surety: "Government cannot create Jobs" "Raising taxes in a recession is the wrong thing to do" "Those making over $250,000 a year create jobs, taxing them is a job killer" "Obama created the recession" none of which have ever been proven to be true and all of which are absurd when used as a basis for policy.

We are in deep shit, the economy cannot be fixed with postulates; targeted tax credits make sense, but revenue is needed - yes taxes raised - to keep unemployment from skyrocketing. We are in a death spiral and not by accident; the goal of the Americans for Tax Reform made their goals known years ago, and seem about to achieve bringing down our government.

Something Imperial Japan and Fascist Germany could not do Grover Norquist has nearly accomplished...with the help of you and other fellow travelers seeking an end to our Republic and establishing a Plutocracy.

Some high earners create jobs,

Examples of what would "make" my already credible post credible to you, Fly Catcher?

STop being such a know it all, stupid.

If you have something to say, try SAYING it and backing it up for a refreshing change of pace. But you won't.

Alas.

Helpful Hint: look up "syllogism" before your next feeble attempt at pretending to use logic. It would help you immeasurably.

Good points,

but take it easy on the Left

Truth is hard for them; in fact, it is their worst enemy

Biggest problem is that Papa Obama is biggest and his policies are the biggest "job blockers" to come around in a long time

It must be true because you said it?

Well thank you for the "kudos"
But really, the news today that
unemployment went Up to 9.2% does really speak for it
:eusa_whistle:

Do you know why UE rose? Do you know which sector suffered the greater job loss?

Federal, state and local civil servents. Teachers, cops, firefighters, maintainence workers, social workers, accountants, etc. Guess what happens to small business near government office buildings? Less customers. Guess what happens to communites when government workers can't meet mortgage payements?

If the Tea Party and Americans for Tax Reform get their way we could very well live to see an economic collapse. We are in a death spiral and it seems the Republican Party leadership see this as a good thing, wrongly believing they won't be blamed in 2012.

I have no expertise on oil drilling, deep water or otherwise. I don't know the cost-benefit of drilling in the Gulf or ANWAR relative to investments in renewable sources of energy, which I understand the large oil companies are doing. They too will add jobs, how many I don't know.

The thing that most bothers me about those of you self describe conservatives, fiscal or social, is the sense you have that you know everthing when it's obvious you know very little.

LOL! Let's raise them all the way, because we need full employment.

Why don't we allow the oil companies, you know, the ones with the expertise, decide the cost-benefit? Instead of letting the guy who knows less about energy than you, Obama, make a unilateral decision?

Are you serious? Cost - benefit, of course they know what is to their benefit. Have you considered their benefit may not be beneficial to others?

Yes, their benefit. Their employee's benefit. Their shareholder's benefit.
The government's benefit, from the increased tax revenue and decreased social spending.
So let's see the cost side according to your calculations.

#1 In January 2009, the official U.S. unemployment rate was 7.6 percent. Today it is 9.1 percent.

#2 When Barack Obama took office, the number of "long-term unemployed" in the United States was approximately 2.6 million. Today, that number is up to 6.2 million.

#3 When Barack Obama first became president, the average price of a gallon of gasoline in the United States was $1.83. Today it is $3.79. This also affects the price of almost everything else that we buy.

#4 In April 2009, the average U.S. household spent approximately $201 on gasoline. In April 2011, the average U.S. household spent approximately $369 on gasoline.

#5 According to an article in the Daily Mail, the cost of a Memorial Day cookout was 29 percent higher this year than it was last year.

#6 When Barack Obama was sworn in, there were nearly 32 million Americans on food stamps. Today, there are more than 44 million on food stamps.

#7 According to the U.S. Census, the number of children living in poverty has gone up by about 2 million in just the past 2 years.

#8 When Barack Obama took office, the U.S. national debt was 10.6 trillion dollars. Today it is 14.3 trillion dollars.

#9 The federal government has borrowed 29,660 more dollars per household since Barack Obama signed the economic stimulus law two years ago.

#10 During Barack Obama's first two years in office, the U.S. government added more to the U.S. national debt than the first 100 U.S. Congresses combined.

#11 The combined debt of the major GSEs (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Sallie Mae) has increased from 3.2 trillion in 2008 to 6.4 trillion in 2011. Thanks to George W. Bush, Barack Obama and the U.S. Congress, U.S. taxpayers are standing behind that debt.

#12 Under Obama, the U.S. trade deficit continues to grow. The trade deficit was about 33 percent larger in 2010 than it was in 2009, and the 2011 trade deficit is expected to be even bigger.

Oh, they'll be blamed, all right. They'll be blamed by Obamabots like you desperate to deflect any criticism of The One.

Of course, it won't be at all credible, but you'll try to make up for your lack of facts and logic with volume and spittle.

Maybe we need another $787 billion, to stop the rate from topping 10%?

Schumer's conspiracy theory: GOP sabotaging recovery | David Freddoso | Beltway Confidential | Washington Examiner

The evidence suggests Schumer's on to something. The House of Representatives has offered no debate on the issue of unemployment and has passed only 18 bills since taking control in January. 15 of those bills were passed to name federal buildings after someone. This do-nothing congress sees no urgency as millions of Americans are out of work, work one or two or three part time jobs simply to pay rent or the morgage on a home underwater.

The GOP leadership in both houses of congress has opposed all efforts by the president, and even turned down an offer by President Obama to reduce the payroll tax for businees. It seems ideology is only an excuse, the real reason is their lust for power.

It seems the only idea democrats have is government spending to stimulate an economy which doesn't work because demofuckocrats are in bed with the unions and the strong majority of the "stimulus'" go right into the fucking pockets of their cronies - the unions.

I got news for the fucking democrats - the fucking spending by democrats is nothing more than payoffs to the democratic voting base.... Democrats bailout labor unions with fat no bid contracts. For example look at what Illinois did with their stimulus money - they bailed out public sector union employees pensions - then they gave fat contracts to construction companies to "fix the roads" but just as long as they "don't hire too many white people" and make damn well sure minorities are overrepresented...

There is no recovery because the fucking democrats are making sure their own are well taken care of.... Democrats could give a rats ass about the non-union private sector..

BTW, those POS union worker democrats make twice what their production market value is in the private sector, which is BTW a travesty to capitalism, considering unions eliminate the notion of free market competition to set the costs of goods and services with their fucking demands...

Furthermore, its not the governments job to make sure you're employed, and as a matter of fact its the government and democrats FAULT millions of Americans are unemployed due to their authoritarian nanny state socialist philosophy where "government knows best"..... The Marxist democrats do nothing but tax and regulate and those regulations have a toll on the free market economy.. The CRA is a fantastic example of my assertion when it comes to government budding in and dictating business practices.

Now, if you want a recovery its pretty simple -- You cut spending, lower taxes and abolish labor unions. Not only would you see a recovery if that were to happen you would see deflation to boot.

I'm sure the communists, er democrats wouldn't comprehend any of that because they believe its up to the government to feed them, house them, give them a job, make sure they have the newest Iphones and furnishings and all they have to do is pay 20% of their paycheck in taxes to make it happen - Oh and make sure the "rich" (whatever the fuck that is) pay 80% in taxes to Uncle Same to make sure they can have a "rich mans" lifestyle without having to select a career path thats in high demand and lucrative.. And before any fucking democrat dissents my truth and says Nay -- tell me why the fuck you demand higher taxes??? obviously you're getting something out of these higher taxes otherwise you wouldn't be championing them - either that or you hate those that have more than you do so fucking much you're willing to destroy and economy out of your hate and or greed.

No, I'm not sorry for going off on a rant...

So, how high would we have to raise taxes to get unemployment below 8%?
Any downside to your tax hikes that you can think of?

I have suggested "targeted" tax hikes, not wholesale across the board tax hikes. So no, if properly done I don't forsee any downside. I also suggested targeted tax cuts, and incentives for small business and startups to hire.

The fact that you have stuck in your mind the propaganda which the Republicans have purveyed for years restricts you ability to reason. Put your emotions aside and think. We are in deep shit and the Republicans have not offered any solutons but cut taxes, cut regulations, cut government, cut social security, cut medicare and cut medicade without any discussion on the actual and predictable consequences of these cuts.

Of course, when democrats have nothing of substance to add when the opposition makes assertions you just throw stupid fucking one-liners around like the shit you just puked which is exactly why you need government to put food on your table, the reason being you're too fucking dumb to think for yourself, hence you couldn't concoct a reasonable argument hence you need to resort to one-liners like a little snot nosed 5th grade punk on the playground breathing snot bubbles..

Bullshit....

If you paid fucking attention to what the democrats propose and what they're doing - especially at the state level, you would realize that all the democrats give a fuck about is creating an authoritarian socialist state....

The fucking democrats want to spend YOUR money for YOU, er at least take the majority of it and redistribute it to the retards on welfare.

So how the fuck are you going to "lower taxes" without cutting spending???

I laugh my ass off when democrats try to sound reasonable, but the second the reality of cutting spending comes up all they can fucking concoct is "cut military spending" any spending beyond that is off limits..

Tax cut cult idiocy- the rich and corporations are bloated with cash- we need demand! How about letting a single jobs bill through- of ANY kind?? And thanks for the depression and the stupidest wars ever! You guys are geniuses! Deregulation and being in bed with corrupt, greedy rich and corporations works great!! Insanity....:eusa_wall::eusa_angel:

What the fuck is with the leftist idiocy??

Do you not realize that "cash" er wealh is not finite but infinite??

Companies/corporations will cut spending when the leftist socialist government raises taxes on them... DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THAT???

It's almost like EVERY liberal is financially retarded. The more money you have the more money you can spend - the less money you have the less you can spend... Is that concept alien to libfucks??

You want jobs??? cut taxes.. It gives corporations and businesses more money to reinvest, but if you take more money via taxes they have less, hence less money to reinvest in business.

Also, given the unemployment rate there are less consumers, hence less demand for product hence less demand for employees..
