Why do some people do the below transformations to themselves? Making themselves grotesque.

There's obviously a psychological issue underlining this type of thing, it's also illustrative of the creeping degeneracy of society that it's considered acceptable and that they're "expressing" themselves or something.

Yes I know that, but that's their particular culture. Western culture hasn't in general had all this stuff until relatively recently.

I don't know what drives people to modify themselves in grotesque ways. One thing sticks out- you rarely see a smile on their faces.
