Ehud Olmert - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

During the talks, Olmert agreed that Israel would share Jerusalem as the joint capital of Israel and a Palestinian state and hand over its holy sites to a multinational committee, land swaps that would allow Israel to keep its major settlement blocs in the West Bank, the construction of a tunnel connecting the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and a demilitarized Palestinian state with an American-led international security force stationed on the Palestinian–Jordanian border. Both sides disagreed over how much land would be exchanged in the swaps, with Olmert demanding at least 5.9% of the West Bank and Abbas offering 1.9%. According to the "Palestine Papers," Israel and the Palestinians agreed that Israel would accept 10,000 refugees
Maybe I'm tired or just cant find your source for your bold type statement. Is that a quote or a paraprhase of your opinion on the 2008 peace plan? Taking your word on it, clearly in my previous posts Olmert blames Right Wing Americans for derailing the peace plan which would have been acepted by Abbas, though in your previous post you greatly implied by the tone of your post that the opposite was true.

Yes, the bolded is a quote from the article. I don't understand what you're trying to say at the end of your post ????
On several occassions you have pointed out the Olmert peace proposal and blaming the Palestini9an for not accepting it, when in fact as Olmert states: It was Right Wing American Zionists who derailed it...

"Let me get this straight.

The US derailed peace plans but the US is on Palestine's side and not Israel's.
Got it! I think. Maybe Member

Let me tell you straight: it was not the USA that derailed the peace...When Olmert said that American Right Wing Zionists money...He probably meant Jewish/American Zionists in the vein of Addelson who gave a 100 million dollars to the Republicans to defeat Obama for his Israeli wife...

Hope that clears it up for you.

That's irrelevant, since Abbas said he would have flt out rejected the offer...

Face it, the Palestinians are terrible peace partners.

Tell us how much of the land between the Jordan River and Mediterranean Sea the Chosen People are entitled to, and why.

Israel wants peace more than they want land.
Lets take a look at some facts.
When Israel captured the Sinai, Gaza and the Golan Heights during the 6 day war, they did the following when the war was over:

1) Offered the Sinai back to Egypt for peace . Egypt rejected and tried to recapture the Sinai in 1973, but failed miserably. However in 1979, a peace deal was reached between the two belligerents in which the Sinai was returned to Egypt. In return, Egypt agreed to keep the Sinai demilitarized.
2) Israel offered to give Gaza back to Egypt, Egypt refused
3) Israel offered the ENTIRE Golan Heights to Syria for peace. Syria rejected.
4) Israel offered the entire West Bank back to Jordan for peace, but Jordan refused. However, peace was made between them later on as well as the establishment of borders.
5) Israel gave the Palestinians a Jew Free Gaza in 2005 in the hopes of having some peace. Hamas accepted, but thanked Israel with thousands of rockets.

Israel gives land for peace. What have the Palestinians offered for peace ??

Even if everything you assert is true, today, in 2013, there are nearly equal numbers of Arabs and Jews living between the River and the Sea. Every Jew gets a vote in Israeli elections. One in four Arabs does. Whatever opportunities both sides have had for peace in the past doesn't change the fundamental choice Jews face today; democracy or continued illegal military occupation of Palestine.

Report: Abbas rejected Olmert peace plan over refugees, safe passage

RAMALLAH, May 18 (JMCC) - Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas rejected a peace proposal of the Olmert administration over the issue of the number of refugees to be allowed to return and Palestinian control over a safe passage between Gaza and the West Bank, former Olmert aide Haim Ramon told a conference Monday.

...Haim Ramon, who served as deputy premier under Ehud Olmert and was one of his trusted confidants, said on Monday at the Institute for National Security Studies conference that the Palestinians turned down Olmert’s offer in 2008 because of disagreements regarding the number of refugees to be allowed into Israel, and because of a Palestinian demand to control the “safe passage” that would have linked the Gaza Strip to the West Bank.

At the end of 2008, Olmert offered Abbas 93.5-to-93.7 percent of the West Bank, a one-to-one swap for most of the rest, and an arrangement whereby no one would have sovereignty over the “holy basin” surrounding Jerusalem’s Old City, but rather it would be administered by a consortium made up of the Israelis, Palestinians, Jordanians, Saudis and Americans.

Ramon revealed that in August 2008, he went to Amman to discuss the refuge issue with Abbas. “We wanted to permit a certain number of refugees into the country over a number of years, and they wanted a different number,” Ramon said.

Minister-without-Portfolio Bennie Begin had a far different take on why the Palestinians rejected Olmert’s offer, as well as that of then-prime minister Ehud Barak in 2000.

The Palestinian rejection of both offers, he said, had to do with “the refusal of the Palestinians to understand that Judaism, beyond just being a religion, is also a nationality. Their refusal to recognize this [Israel] as a Jewish state, like their refusal to recognize that the Temple stood on Mount Moriah, expresses their refusal to accept that we have a title to this land.”

What right do they have to demand any control of land within the " borders" we hear so much about? Let him keep demanding. The " palestinian state" that HE wants is never going to materialize.

Face it Toast, you are a coniver for the cause.

Face it, the Palestinians are terrible peace partners.

Indeed, they refuse to let Israel get away with stealing their land.

Translation; They refuse to go back to Borders that were never recognized or accepted or see their Country become extinct which is " Right of Return" would do. A direct quote from this poster; " It's Israel's Problem". It's not because it's not happening. Ask what the Palestinians are willing to do for " peace" and there will not be a reply; There never is. :eusa_hand:

Tell us how much of the land between the Jordan River and Mediterranean Sea the Chosen People are entitled to, and why.

Well, in that gigantic Empire that you're talking about, all of Israel proper, and whatever else can be worked out, after King Abdullah is overthrown, and Jordan is renamed Palestine because about 70% of its population is Palestinian anyways.

I always thought you proud ZioNuts connived for Israel...it worked in Iraq...Now you say Abbas rejected the 2008 peace proposal by Olmert? 97% with an practically speaking an occupying army at her borders, a new Palestine would have floundered...it was Israel that rejected the 67 borders now sanctioned by the UN and recognized by America...Keep it going until you all nuke each other out for a new chapter in the Torah!
