But, there's clearly a very strong level of proportionate balance needed for life to start, and massive, unrealistic amounts of proportionate balances for life greater than single cell organisms to exist, much less sustain themselves for millions of years.

Try billions of years...and in those billions of years, plenty species evolve and die before getting it "right". The oldest organisms on record, tardigrades, have been around for about 500 million years, but it took billions of years for them to evolve.

Such a proportionate balance being natural is unrealistic.

That's because you're only thinking in terms of the Earth being 6,000 years old. It's hard to accept evolutionary change taking place over just 6,000 years. But to accept evolutionary change taking place over 600 million years...well, then it stops looking less believable and starts looking more likely.
