Cities and States can't be compelled to enforce Federal Laws.

We complain, rightly so, about Government over-reach and this would be an example of it if Cities and States were forced to apply Federal Laws.

Look, people..... This is on Sang Frang and Kalifornication. NOT on the Feds.

Is it legal for them to become Sanctuary Cities? Yes, it most certainly is. Is it scummy for them to do so? It absolutely is.

But scumbags do scumbag things.

Just remember that when it comes time to consider Sang Frang or Kalifornication for -- Anything. Remember what kind of scum they are.

Freedom means a lot of things. It can, and often does, include the right to be free to be scumbags.

Kalifornication exercises that right with glee while jabbing their finger in the rest of the Country's eye.

The people that live there? They're also free...... Free to leave. Free to vote. Free to protest.

Maybe they should exercise some of their freedoms, too

No it does not and he is correct.

Anything does not go - you still need to operate within the confines of the law. Those confines also include separation of powers between states and the federal government. The states are not simple arms of the feds and rightfully so.

If the feds want these laws enforced and the state in question does not want to enforce them the feds have the power to come in and enforce them on their own. The state cannot, legally, do anything to prevent that from happening. If the feds do not want to expend the resources then we have what is happening right now and that is what the people have asked for.

Want that changed - go to the voting booth and change it. Apparently, Californians do want this kind of insanity and it is their choice.
