The civilized commonwealth of Va. doesn't allow certain types of fireworks that fly so what you can buy in the tents they set up in Walmart parking lots are tubes that emit showers of colored sparks. The law however allows for black power. I have a replica Coehorn mortar with a 3 1/2 inch bore. An ounce of black power and some paper wadding and a fuse and you have a spectacular bang. It will fire a projectile but I'm tired of chasing the things down. I built an authentic base for it but it's too heavy for one person to move around. I haven't had it out since Memorial day and the mud wasps plugged up the touch hole so it delayed my 12 noon shot.
