Kamala Harris is seeking to change the terms of her ABC debate with former President Donald J. Trump, with the America First leader’s camp saying her team wanted a sit-down debate with opening statements and notes. Harris has already backed out of a debate on the less-friendly Fox News network in front of a “full arena audience.”​

Harris’s camp is currently quibbling over whether or not microphones should remain “hot” while the rival candidates are not speaking. Trump, who asked for hot mics in 2020, agreed to muted mics and no audience for the upcoming ABC debate and his previous CNN debate against Joe Biden—with the Democrats being the ones who put forward these demands. Now, Harris’s team is asking for mics to be left hot on ABC after all and criticizing Trump for declining to reopen the negotiations—to distract from the fact Harris has been demanding even more favorable terms than Biden.​

“Enough with the games. We accepted the ABC debate under the exact same terms as the CNN debate. The Harris camp, after having already agreed to the CNN rules, asked for a seated debate, with notes, and opening statements. We said no changes to the agreed upon rules,” said Jason Miller, senior adviser to President Trump.​

“If Kamala Harris isn’t smart enough to repeat the messaging points her handlers want her to memorize, that’s their problem,” Miller continued.​

“This seems to be a pattern for the Harris campaign. They won’t allow Harris to do interviews, they won’t allow her to do press conferences, and now they want to give her a cheat-sheet for the debate. My guess is that they’re looking for a way to get out of any debate with President Trump,” he concluded.​

Trump is fed up with these people and ABC in particular thinking about backing out of the ABC debate altogether again because he knows he is just walking into a lion trap where he will be attacked from both sides. But I hope (and think) he will knuckle under and do it anyway, because Trump is not one to back down, wants to get Harris where he can challenge her with nowhere to run, and besides, he knows that if he doesn't show, Harris will do the debate alone where her and ABC will have a love fest together ripping on him without anyone being there to defend him.

There are many variations that could result in a fair debate - one that allows the candidates to lay out their platform, but also demands that they answer difficult questions extemporaneously.

At this stage, they should not need notes. Seriously. She has been attending cabinet meetings for almost four fucking years. She is thoroughly briefed on every conceivable issue.

It looks a lot like someone laying the groundwork to withdraw from the one and only debate.

Well, you see, this debate puts Harris squarely in her weakest position as her entire campaign has been based on STYLE (dancing and giggling) and PRESENTATION (emotions and feelings), rather than SUBSTANCE. Style and presentation don't matter in a debate, you are stripped naked, and it is just you and the camera up there having to factually answer questions and give answers--- convincingly, honestly and spontaneously, dancing on the head of a pin--- the EXACT thing Harris has tried to avoid.

She knows that all it will take is just one slip up, one faux pas, one stumble, one falter under the big hot lights and her campaign could suddenly land with a dull thud just like Joe Biden's.

Who knew that stealing a candidacy could be this hard?!
