Kasich Moments Ago: "We Believe That An Open Convention Is The Best Way The Republican Party To Win"

When Clinton won 43% of the vote in 1992, the conservative propaganda machine couldn't shut up about how that wasn't really a win because he didn't win 51%.

How many of those people are now Trumpbots who demand that he get the nomination no matter how far below a majority he ends up at,
as long as he has a plurality?

they are insisting on a plurality of delegates. Despite the fact that his pluralities were very small. He won his first majority was NY.

I would say that a loud and vocal majority dislikes him very very intensely.

He's exactly right. An open convention with Kasich emerging as the nominee would be gold for the GOP. They'd win in a Reagan landslide and do very well all the way down the ballot. It's not going to happen, though, because crazies have taken control of the asylum and Trump flew over the cuckoo's nest.

Cruz and Kasich are Tom and Gerry........................

Kasich will not be the nominee. He is not getting delegates. Cruz is getting the delegates committed to him. Second ballot he will have the majority.

Kasich just isn't doing the work that Cruz is.

There is nothing he can do. He's a Reagan Republican in an era where the Republican party has gone so far right they've flown off the reservation. Reagan would never get the nomination today. He'd be called a progressive RINO by all the loons now occupying the GOP

I think there is a certain irony in the different strategies that are being employed here.

Trump is all about the superficial bullshit. He gets attention, and he thinks that's enough to win. He's largely neglected anything more substantive about the political process.

Cruz has somewhat ignored Trump level concerns and is hard at work at the technical aspects of the political process. Even still, he's significantly ignoring the deeper elements of the political process.

Kasich has somewhat ignored both those higher level concerns, and is focusing on the deepest level, which is the face-to-face relationships building.

At the end of the day, we have three candidates, each of which ignoring two of three levels of the game. It's almost as if the real battle playing out is between academic schools, and we're just caught in the middle of it.

In that case Trump runs as an independent, allowing his voting block to vote for him, and then the dopey GOP will have elected Hillary. The art of the deal.
