Creepy, no?

Some people have it in their DNA to target the vulnerable and they will argue that one creepy activity doesn't offset a serious crime.

We lose our principles and our soapbox when we believe that if we lower our own humanity and morals in the face of criminals it is ok because "I'm really not at all like them". This DNA can spread among a population and impact other avenues within a system until in fact, you are precisely like them...

The Ontario government cannot say how many children are being strip searched in detention facilities across the province.

Despite calls from the legal community and human rights advocates for the province to stop routine in-custody strip-searches of children as young as 12 years old — including those who have yet to face trial and are presumed innocent — government policies allow for the practice.

Strip searching children by the police is a recipe for police officers that are secretly pedophiles.

The problem is, which officers are and which aren't comfortable with this.

Even if someone murders someone, we have to rise above it and be civilized and moral. Imagine a pedo in court and their lawyer questioning police officials and asking them "have you stripped searched minors"? It would bring an entire scenario in which the courts have to apply one standard to a creep and another to a cop who may engage in what is really creepy activity, intentional or not.

I would have to refuse to engage in this activity if I were doing that job. At the very least I would ask where this is in my job description.

no

if they aren't searched, what are they sneaking into the facility?

weapons, drugs?

IMO, visitors should be strip searched before entering a facility.

Maybe I missed it, but the article linked in the OP was very brief. It did not define what is considered a strip search nor the circumstances in which it is performed.

Is having a new resident/inmate shower and change into an orange jump suit while handing over the old cloths to someone that does a search considered a strip search? Or is it more invasive with someone doing a cavity search checking for drugs and such?

1. I assume we are talking about 15+ boys.
2. Physical visitor contact should be limited to immediate family.
3. Socialism ultimately leads to authoritarianism.
