Evolution is science; Bible is philosophy.

Evolution is pseudoscience. While not written specifically as science, the Holy Bible provides abundant science, beginning with the First Sentence of the First Paragraph of the First Book.

It took scientists two thousand years to verify and validate that simple declaration we now know as The Big Bang. Einstein and other scientists fought it desperately, telling the priest who showed Einstein that his equations led to the Primordial Atom, "Your mathematics are correct but your conclusion is abominable." Only years later did Einstein have to recant and admit that he was wrong, and stubbornly wrong. He let his dogma drive his science, which it should never do.

“WE CONCLUDE – UNEXPECTEDLY – that there is little evidence for the neo-Darwinian view: its theoretical foundations and the experimental evidence supporting it are weak.” – Department of Ecology and Evolution, University of Illinois, Chicago, The American Naturalist, November 1992

“Darwin’s theory is no closer to resolution than ever.” – David Berlinski, author of The Devil’s Delusion

“And let us dispose of a common misconception. The complete transmutation of even one animal species into a different species has never been directly observed either in the laboratory or in the field.” Dean H. Kenyon (Professor of Biology, San Francisco State University), affidavit presented to the U.S. Supreme Court, No. 85-1513, Brief of Appellants, prepared under the direction of William J. Guste, Jr., Attorney General of the State of Louisiana, October 1985, p. A-16.
Encyclopedia of American Loons

Berlinski is one of the movers and shakers of the contemporary creationist movement, associated with the Discovery Institute and one of their most frequent and famous debaters. A delusional, pompous narcissist with an ego to fit a medieval pope. Also a name-dropper (most of his talks concern important people he has talked to). A comment on one of his lunatic self-aggrandizing rants can be found here (sums up this guy pretty well):

He is apparently really angry at evolution (it is unclear why), and famous for his purely enumerative “cows cannot evolve into whales” argument.

Berlinski was once a moderately respected author of popular-science books on mathematics. He can still add numbers together, but has forgotten the GIGO rule (“garbage in, garbage out") of applied mathematics. Some of his rantings are discussed here.

Likes to play ‘the skeptic’ (which means denialism in this case, and that is not the same thing).

Diagnosis: Boneheaded, pompous and arrogant nitwit; has a lot of influence, and a frequent participator in debates, since apparently the Discovery Institute thinks that’s the way scientific disputes are settled (although he often takes a surprisingly moderate view in debates, leading some to suspect that he is really a cynical fraud rather than a loon).

I don’t see belief in Arks, talking snakes, people ascending to heaven on golden staircases or animal sacrifice per Santeria as necessarily the best thing to inundate schools with.
And that is precisely why the Bible needs to be taught in school: To move people beyond such a shallow view of the Bible and people of faith.
Suggesting the Bible needs to be taught in public school suggests a need to impose your beliefs on others. Would you propose that schools segregate Christians from non-Christians for Bible lessons? Who would teach the lessons? A Catholic Priest? A Minister? A Chaplain, Pastor?
They should do as they did in the past. There should be a daily reading from the Psalms and or Proverbs. The reading was done by any student who wished to volunteer, as was the flag held and/or the Pledge of Allegiance lead by any student who wished to volunteer. All one needs to read is a McGuffey Reader from the 19th century to see that there was an influence upon students that GOD was someone of consideration and not to simply ignore or never be exposed to... One could certainly come to one's own conclusions; however, such conclusions were not the indoctrinated end result of ignorance or exclusion for "political/legal" reasons on a part of a governmental failure at attempting to keep a wall of separation between education and religious freedom. In essence, science, mathematics, language, religion, philosophy, and art ----- are all a very important part of education that is being undermined and neglected --- because of a very fickle and narrow-minded society, who believe it's money that makes a difference and not character. The government has no business dictating educational practices or the manipulation of funding in order to promote its own humanistic scientological agenda.
Nothing in what you wrote suggests that public schools are not a place for academics while Sunday school is a place for religion.

As to religious freedom, the Constitution guarantees me freedom of religion which is by default, freedom from religion.

No, the Constitution guarantees you only freedom of worship. Which means that you get to choose the way you wish to worship GOD. And since there is freedom of worship, that means that you cannot stifle one's desire to proselytize, anymore then you can stifle one's freedom of speech. And I submit to you that it is impossible to philosophize without expressing moral attitudes that are directly influenced religiously. And so basically, freedom of speech, religion, and thought are stifled in public education because of people like yourself who wrongly feel that expression, thought, and presentation must be limited to only secular humanistic logic/rhetoric publicly.

You can worship your gods as you wish. What you can't do is expect the public school system to become a religious institution.

They'd want the 'reading' to be from Das Kapital.

The facts are, SCOTUS has not decreed what you suggested. I don’t fear Biblical instruction. I don’t want to see the erosion of education by the introduction of religion in public schools. I want the Constitution to be upheld.

The Bible is philosophy? Not according to the religious syndicates which view the Bible as literal history and certainly not according to many in these threads who view the Bible as a literal rendering of existence.

I’m not clear on why you fear science being taught in public schools and religion being taught in Sunday school.
I teach science in public school which is why I do not fear it. Considering the amount of misinformation about the Bible that even you bring in is the reason I believe it would be a fine idea to teach the Bible properly in schools. Had you been given a proper understanding of the Bible (Rabbinical for at least two-thirds of it), you might have as little fear of the Bible being taught in the classroom as I have--and would, perhaps, be one of its supporters. The Bible can be taught without pushing anyone into any faith or sect, and that would be to everyone's benefit.
Interesting and informative.

I do so appreciate you proclaiming your ignorance on a daily basis.....otherwise, folks wouldn't believe how truly dumb you Leftists are.

Sharia is not consistent with the US Constitution.
A simple test, according to Tawfik Hamid, in his book, “Inside Jihad,” is to ask if the subject of questioning supports the following:

Killing of Apostates, those who decide to leave the religion

Beating of women, and stoning them to death for infractions

Calling Jews Pigs and Monkeys

Declaring war on non-Muslims either to convert them, or to have them pay a second-class citizen tax

Enslave and rape female war prisoners, as in Darfur

Fight and kill Jews as preparation for the end days

Kill gays

Beyond the secular Progressive view that every group should and must remain separate and distinct, there is an active campaign by Muslim extremists to destroy Western civilization from within- quietly, peacefully, and even legally. Not only is this segment of the American Muslim population not willing to be part of this culture....but their design is to topple and replace it with one beholding to sharia, and ruled not by the Constitution, but by the Koran.

“...and of a far creepier and deadlier kind than Christians’.

What is a militant “Secularits”

Haha, yes. Rahm Emmanuel is far creepier and deadlier than your typical atheist.

Rahm Emmanuel is a Democrat, BLM, and butt buddy of Barack Obama. He wants to ban any form of religious display such as the cross so people will forget what Jesus did and go to hell.

And, just how creepy and deadly are xtians?

You're getting buggy eyed and overemotional over Christians again.

I wasn't the one who guaranteed freedom of religion, and in effect Sharia Law in the US. That was a really dumb move. It should have read "Freedom FROM religion".

Keep posting......you're my best weapon against the Democrats/Liberals.
Just so you can attack me properly, I'm a Libertarian, not a Dem.

I wasn't the one who guaranteed freedom of religion, and in effect Sharia Law in the US. That was a really dumb move. It should have read "Freedom FROM religion".

I said you're a moron.

Any religion must be consistent with the Constitution.

Your religion, Militant Secularism, gets in under the wire.

So Muslims should be allowed to live by Sharia Law in the US?

The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution says that everyone in the United States has the right to practice his or her own religion, or no religion at all. Sharia is part of Islam.

Actually, no. The Constitution guarantees freedom of religion, (freedom from religion). The Constitution guarantees me the freedom from the imposition of your religion else there is a legal precedence to allow you to force me to adhere to whatever may be the "majority religion". The kuffar are free from forced religions.

Public education is not stifled because religious extremists want to impose their religions on school children. The Founders knew that religions propagate and they knew that once in control, religious tenets are biased towards themselves and poorly disposed towards competitive belief systems. We don't have to assume their intent -- the intent is clear: the state is precluded from dictating any and all religious conscience to any free people. Hence, the First Amendment.

The public schools are protected from religious indoctrination regardless of the particular brand of religion.

You can teach children all you wish about religion in Sunday schools or a Madrassah of your choosing. You are prevented by law from doing so in public schools.

More of your emotional outbursts.

Please, please stick to cutting and pasting your phony “quotes”. You make yourself the pompous buffoon when you try to assemble words into coherent sentences.

There is nothing in the Constitution that requires religion to be “consistent” with that document.

I'm saying that the US Constitution appears to allow pretty much anything from a real religion. I don't know if the Supreme Court would draw a line, a standard to meet, allowing or not your human sacrifice. That's not my call. But Sharia and Islam would qualify for sure. Over a billion people served!
