Much cheaper than Iron Dome and could be more effective. It will soon be operational. The future of defense tech is here.

I can already see one huge problem with this system.

Weather.

You see, one of the things that has the largest effect in that region of the world is sand and dust storms. And even a moderate amount of particulate would render this completely ineffective.

This was a major problem that both the US and USSR-Russia have had in all of their "Laser Weapon" programs. They are really only effective under very clear conditions, where there is a direct line of sight and the atmospheric conditions are dry. Throw in things like dust, precipitation, or even high humidity and a LASER weapon becomes worthless.

This is because of "Thermal Blooming". Where the LASER itself interacts with particulates in the atmosphere, and then hear them up. This causes many effects, ranging from deflection of the LASER itself, to enlargement of the beam and dissipation of its energy. So even if this was made, it would be freaking simple as hell to completely negate. Simply fire weapons against Israel in days there is a lot of dust in the atmosphere. Or rain, or it is exceptionally humid.

Or heck, arrange a car bomb or fire near the weapon that puts out a lot of dust or smoke. Once again, thermal blooming will make it worthless.

You have a point yes. I am sure it will be tested under all conditions.
